The importance of the written word.

Ezekiel 13:1-4

They are prophesying from their own hearts, their own desires.
Ezekiel 13:6
Their visions are false.
God has not spoken to them, revealed things to them. Yet they are lying saying that God has.
The relief we have with scripture, is we don’t have to guess or wonder if the prophet is true or false.
God has given us all that we need.
Psalm 119:105 ESV
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
The bible is a lamp. Something small that illuminates before us through the dark.
Light=daylight or dawn.
At the darkest times in our lives, it can give us hope.
It enables us to discern through the snares that the wicked might set.
Isaiah 8:19–20 ESV
19 And when they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living? 20 To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.
Do not go to others who say that they can tell the future.
The teaching and the testimony is what Isaiah references.
This is most likely the law and the writings of Isaiah himself.
Ergo, the law and the prophets.
If people don’t speak according to these things. They don’t have the light in them.
Isaiah 8:16 ESV
16 Bind up the testimony; seal the teaching among my disciples.
Isaiah’s teachings were being scrutinized.

Romans 10:14-17

The importance of preaching the gospel, the bible.
For faith comes by hearing the word of God.
This is a key element.
Hebrews 1:1–2 ESV
1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
God spoke to us in many way, but now it is through Jesus.
It is the by opening and reading the bible.
