Ephesians 1:6–10 ESV
to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
Ephesians 1:6 ESV
to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
The end result of God choosing a race that would worship Him is simply to bring Him praise.
He had hoped that all of mankind would worship Him for eternity.
However, in knowing that not all would choose Him we are encouraged to give Him praise as his chosen people.
1 Peter 2:9 ESV
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
We are called to praise God for all He did for us.
Ephesians 1:7 ESV
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
Why do we praise God?
We praise God because He has chosen us to die for.
He died so that we may live so we praise Him.
According to Paul verse 7 we have redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ.
We do not deserve God’s grace yet he gifted us with it anyway.
Ephesians 1:8 ESV
which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight
What do you think the role of God is in your lie after you are saved?
The Lord continues to give us gifts.
All over scripture he gifts those who worship him.
In 1 chronicles He gives solomon wisdom for example.
Paul says here that God has given us wisdom and insight.
In other words, God has given us wisdom and the wisdom of his plan.
What is God’s plan?
He has given us the wisdom to be able to recognize why He died, why we need him and that He is coming back for his people.
Ephesians 1:9 ESV
making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ
Continuing on that point.
He has gave us knowledge of His will.
Today we celebrate Christ dying on the cross for us!
We do so because He has given us a vision of all of his will.
What is God’s will and purpose?
God’s will and purpose is that we would worship him and that we would folow him by the great commission and the greatest commandment
Matthew 28:16–20 ESV
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 22:34–40 ESV
But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Ephesians 1:10 ESV
as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
What is God’s ultimate goal?
God’s ultimate goal on our life is to unite all of humanity together in humanity.
