MISSIONAL LIVING
THE POINT: Christ-centered living chooses to give up preferences and freedoms in order to reach the lost
Read
1 Corinthians 9:19-23
A slave by choice
Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we are free! Free from sin and free to make choices to honor God with our lives
Despite his freedom, Paul chose to live as a servant to others
He made this sacrifice so many would come by faith to Christ
All things to all people
When with Jews, Paul lived as a Jew. When with gentiles, he lived as a gentile
Paul was willing to give up personal preferences, even to the point of making great sacrifice, in order to help people connect with Christ
He used “every possible means”- as long as it wasn’t sinful- so people would be saved
All for the Gospel
The gospel is “good news.” Though we were dead in sin, Jesus fought the battle on our behalf and won the victory, which is eternal life
Paul was willing to go to such great lengths because he didn’t want to experience God’s blessings alone, but share it with others he loved
This isn’t a popular or easy way to live, but it’s the life to which all Christians are called
