Isaiah 54:17 (NAS)
“No weapon that is formed against you will prosper;
And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.

Review

Jesus is talking to the religious folk
these people talked horrible about Jesus.
they knew that they were the people of God. And God Himself could not tell them otherwise
John 8:48–59 NASB95
48 The Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?” 49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 50 “But I do not seek My glory; there is One who seeks and judges. 51 “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he will never see death.” 52 The Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste of death.’ 53 “Surely You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets died too; whom do You make Yourself out to be? 54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God’; 55 and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep His word. 56 “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” 57 So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” 59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.
Jesus is continuing on His talk with the Jews.
These Jews what to kill Him because of the things that He is saying. He told them that:
This He and the Father are one
that they were not to sons or children of God, but of the Devil.
That they will die in there sins if they don't believe
Jesus is not a Preacher that preaches to satisfy people in there feelings,
He was not concerned about offending anyone.
When speaking the truth, should we be reserved????
Jesus wasn't.
in V. 47, He told the Jews that those eho are of God Hears the words of God, but they dont hear Him because God is not in them.
In other words, they Jews did not know God.

V. 48

John 8:48 NASB95
48 The Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?”
They called Jesus a demon
This is the sad thing about this.
They could not beat Jesus in a debate,
They could not deny the miracles that He performed.
They could not slip Jesus up with words
The only thing that they could do was to say that He had a demon in Him
They could now give an answer as to why Jesus was able to do what He did, so they come up with this conclusion
This is a horrible thing. They dont realize what they are saying.
These people, who claim to love God,
to be children of God.
they are saying that Jesus, God, the Son of God is darkness.
They are saying that God is evil.
Do you understand that these Jews now have no hope. If God is a demon what hope did they have?

V.49-50

John 8:49–50 NASB95
49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 50 “But I do not seek My glory; there is One who seeks and judges.
Jesus did not have a demon, but He was Honoring the Father.
at the same time the Jew were dishonoring (shamed) Him
Jesus did not seek His own early glory. But only to do the work that God called.
- This is another perfect prototype form our Lord Jesus.
- We need to seek to have approval of out Lord, not that of ourselves.
- We don't want to have our own glory, but to honor Christ
(STORY/GLORY story)

V.51-53

John 8:51–53 NASB95
51 “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he will never see death.” 52 The Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste of death.’ 53 “Surely You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets died too; whom do You make Yourself out to be?
Those who keep (to keep in custody, to keep watch over, to guard) Jesus word (instructions)
Never see (undergo, taste, experience) death, “ever”
Some will focus on the word never, it can be added that “never ever” see death
In saying this, Jesus telling them again, the way of salvation. The Jews again called Him a demon.
These Jews are questioning Him. they are thinking on a earthly level.

V. 54-55

John 8:54–55 NASB95
54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God’; 55 and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep His word.
Again, Jesus, although, He deserve all the Glory. Jesus did not seek Him own glory, during His earthly ministry Jesus did not seek His own Glory.
God gives Him His glory. The same God that these Jews are saying that are there God.
Jesus again tells them that He knows God, but they dont know Him. They are lier.

V. 56-57

John 8:56–57 NASB95
56 “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” 57 So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”
Jesus says that there father, father Abraham was happy and was glad to see the day of Christ. This moment.
V.58-59
John 8:58–59 NASB95
58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” 59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.
