“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.
Years ago an old lady had no money to buy food. She prayed, "Dear Lord, please send me a side of bacon and a sack of corn meal." Over and over again she prayed the same prayer aloud. One of the town's unscrupulous citizens decided to play a trick on her. He dropped a side of bacon and a sack of corn meal down her chimney. It landed in front of her as she knelt in prayer.
Jumping to her feet, she exclaimed, "Oh Lord! You have answered my prayer!" Then she went all over town telling everyone the good news.
This was too much for the scoundrel who dropped the food down her chimney. He ridiculed her publicly and told her that God did not answer her prayer; he did. The old lady replied, "Well, the devil may have brought it, but it was the Lord who sent it!"
God answers prayers in many ways.

d.Yield to His Purpose and will
e.Depend on Him to supply
f.Forgive them so God will forgive you
g.Depend on Him for Deliverance
h.Luke 11:5-8 tells us to pray with persistence
A lady in the church who invited her neighbor to go to services with her kept count of the times the neighbor refused. It came to 49. She pleasantly mentioned the count to her friend as she issued her fiftieth invitation at the time of a special meeting. At first the friend declined again but later called and said she would go. "If you are interested enough in me to ask me 50 times to go, I will go with you and see what it is like." She went out and liked what she saw. She returned and she was converted-all because someone did not give up too soon.
i.Luke 11:9-13 tells us to ask, seek, and knock, and believe when you pray
Prayer has to do with attitude, perspective and dependency on God
PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
Pray for your family
Pray for your friends
Pray for your nation
Pray for your enemies (There salvation)
1. PRAY FOR YOUR FAMILY
And the Lord said, “The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave.
“I will go down now, and see if they have done entirely according to its outcry, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know.”
The outcry was Great
Sin was exceedingly great
Abraham knew Lot and his family was in Sodom
He asks the Lord not to destroy for the righteous. 50, 45, 40, 30, 30, & 10
The more he asks, the more he realized that only his family may be the righteous ones
Lot had placed his fortune in Sodom, all his possessions, family and business was there
Lot and his two daughters were delivered from the city. Lots wife could have been saved but she was not. God always gives people a free will to choose His deliverance
God still destroyed the cities but he answered Abrahams prayer.
ABRAHAM PRAYED FOR HIS FAMILY
Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, heal her, I pray!”
-They compared there ministry to that of Moses (Did God not also speak to us?)
Miriam and Aaron speaks against Moses
They compare there ministry to that of Moses (Did God not also speak to us?)
The Lord hears it
The Lord appears to Moses, Miriam and Aaron and tells them to meet God at the tent of meeting
The Lord speaks highly of Moses, telling them he speaks mouth to mouth with Moses openly and even beholds the form of the Lord (vs 8)
After the Lord leaves, Miriam becomes leprous
Leprosy is a skin disease that eats away at the flesh
Aaron realizes his sin Numb 12:11-12
Numbers 12:11–12(NASB95)
Then Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, I beg you, do not account this sin to us, in which we have acted foolishly and in which we have sinned.
“Oh, do not let her be like one dead, whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes from his mother’s womb!”
Moses cries out to the Lord Num 12 13
Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, heal her, I pray!”
God hears, and Miriam is healed, then placed outside the camp for 7 days before Israel moves on again
MOSES PRAYED FOR HIS SISTER MIRIAM
2. PRAY FOR YOUR FRIENDS
Acts 12:1-17
Herod saw that the Jews were happy when he killed one of Jesus’ disciples so he decided to do the same to Peter.
He placed him under guard in prison
Herod wanted to wait until Passover was over before the execution
He was placed under 4 squads (quaternions GK) of soldiers that is 4 groups of 4 soldiers)
The church prayed for his deliverance
So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God.
fervently - intently (GK)
God waited a few days
On the very night when Herod was about to bring him forward, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and guards in front of the door were watching over the prison.
Peter was sleeping (not worried about his future)
Angel of the Lord suddenly appears, a light shines in the cell, he struck Peter’s side to wake him, and his chains fall off
Angel tells Peter to get dressed and follow him
Peter thought this was seeing a vision.
They pass the first and second guards, and come to the gate that leads into the city which opens itself and went along one street before the angel disappeared
Peter realizes he has been delivered and went to Mary’s house (Mother of John Mark)
Rhoda, a servant girl answers the door and announces it to the others
Peter explains his deliverance to those who were praying and leaves to another place
THE LORD ANSWERED THE PRAYER OF PETER’S FRIENDS
JOB PRAYS FOR HIS FRIENDS
For many days Job was tested by God through loss, pain, and his friends
Yet Job remained blameless
But his friends were not (Job 42:7
It came about after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right as My servant Job has.
So God tells them to have Job pray for them
“Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”
And after there obedience, the Lord lifted up Job
So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord told them; and the Lord accepted Job.
The Lord restores Job when he prayed for his friends
The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold.
JOB PRAYED FOR HIS FRIENDS
3. PRAY FOR THE NATION
In Numbers 34, Moses is commanded by God to appear before Him with two stone tablets
He was to go up to the top of the mountain of God
No one else was to be seen on the mountain - even the flocks and herds could not graze in front of it
Moses goes up mount Sinai as commanded by the Lord
The Lord descends in the cloud
Moses calls on the Name of the Lord
Lord proclaims Ex 34:6-7
Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth;
who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”
Moses responds on behalf of the nation
He said, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, O Lord, I pray, let the Lord go along in our midst, even though the people are so obstinate, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your own possession.”
God makes a covenant with the people
Then God said, “Behold, I am going to make a covenant. Before all your people I will perform miracles which have not been produced in all the earth nor among any of the nations; and all the people among whom you live will see the working of the Lord, for it is a fearful thing that I am going to perform with you.
MOSES PRAYS FOR THE NATION
- Moses prays for Israel after they rebelled against Moses as there leader in Numbers 14:11-19
SAMUEL PRAYS FOR ISRAEL
Saul was just confirmed as king in 1 Samuel 12 and Samuel is going over the responsibilities of that kingship. He comforts the people for there rebellion and then says in vs 20-21
Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart.
“You must not turn aside, for then you would go after futile things which can not profit or deliver, because they are futile.
“For the Lord will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the Lord has been pleased to make you a people for Himself.
“Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way.
“Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.
“But if you still do wickedly, both you and your king will be swept away.”
SAMUEL PRAYS FOR THE NATION
4. PRAY FOR YOUR ENEMIES
bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
In 2 Kings 6:8-23 we see an interesting story of how a man of God prayed for his enemies much like we should pray for our enemies
King Aram was warring against Israel
The man of God (Elisha) would tell Israels king the plans of King Aram because God would reveal it to him.
King Aram was enraged
They realized Elisha was to blame for the Kings frustration so they go out to find Elisha in Dothan
Elisha servant sees the army circling the city and asks “what shall we do?”
Elisha prays that the servants eyes are open 2 Kings 6:17
Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
Then Elisha prays for his enemies 2 Kings 6:18
When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the Lord and said, “Strike this people with blindness, I pray.” So He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
This was not in anger, or revenge, but with mercy
Elisha then guides the enemy army into the city of Samaria
Then Elisha prays the Lord to open the enemies eyes
They would have been very afraid at this time
The King of Israel suggest killing the enemy but Elisha tells him to feed them and send them away - shows mercy
The enemy doesn’t raid Israel any more
ELISHA PRAYED FOR HIS ENEMIES WITH MERCY
Paul also prayed for his enemies
Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you;
PAUL WAS PRAYING FOR HIS ENEMIES FOR THERE SALVATION
In conclusion, we see that we should
Pray for our Family
Pray for our Friends
Pray for our Nation
Pray for our Enemies (or those who persecute you)
and in doing this, Pray without ceasing
pray without ceasing;
So, are you praying for one another? Are your prays in line with God’s will and purpose? Let us pray one for another. Let us pray with humility and for the benefit of other people.
