The Holy Spirit’s work is promised

Ezekiel 36:26–27 LEB

And I will give a new heart to you, and a new spirit I will give into your inner parts, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh. And I will give my spirit into your inner parts, and I will make it so that you will go in my rules, and my regulations you will remember, and you will do them.

Jesus Christ proclaims the Holy Spirit’s work

John 3:5–8 LEB

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless someone is born of water and spirit, he is not able to enter into the kingdom of God. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, ‘It is necessary for you to be born from above.’ The wind blows wherever it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

The Holy Spirit’s work brings salvation

Tt 3:5–6 “washing” (apparently a reference to baptism) signifies regeneration.

Regeneration is a creative work of God’s Spirit alone

It cannot be achieved by human means

The Spirit is the one who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
