Isaiah 6:1–8 (KJV 1900)
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: The whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
1 Samuel 3:1–10 (KJV 1900)
1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
4 That the Lord called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
6 And the Lord called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him.
8 And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the Lord had called the child.
9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
Ere - time
The lamp of God went out
Samuel did not yet know
The Lord came, and stood, and called
This is a personal call from God to a little boy
I went to VBS and my heart was sensitive
1994 God saved me
Some are called to preach
We are all called to something, for the Christian, every thing we do, if done in the power of the Spirit, is spiritual
God calls men to missions - particular people
Just because God didn’t specifically call you to a particular people doesn’t mean that you aren’t called to share the Gospel with the people in your world with the same passion a missionary would
You are called to the group of people you are near
Working near
There is no voice needed
There is no road of Damascus needed
We are all called to share the Gospel
1 out of three thousand allow the Gospel to interrupt our schedule
We schedule time to pray
We schedule time to read the Bible
We schedule time to take part in hobbies
Here am I, send me
There was a call to Samuel
Isaiah heard who shall Go, and He said I will go
1. We Are Called To Pray
Matthew 9:37–38 KJV 1900
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
This is something we are supposed to pray about
Those who are praying for the fields are usually those who will be sensitive to go
Every boy and girl in our city
God wants us to be in a place where we are burdened to reach the lost
Do we have a burden for children
They need to be reached for Jesus
We are not responding because we have been calloused in our heart.
The way to change our world is to share the Gospel with someone.
When was the last time you personally shared the Gospel with someone.
The first
Doors are open, we must think about others and pray for them and open conversations
You are called - don’t be deceived
Satan
The world is going to hell and it’s not because there is a problem with the seed
Ezekiel 36:23 - And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
When I am sanctified in your life
Our lifestyle should be in harmony with the Gospel message so that every person can be influenced by the Gospel.
God we need laborers - you will see the need for laborers
Those that don’t look for opportunities to share the Gospel
Share the Gospel
2. We Are Called To Go
Disciples were mentored and commissioned
None of the disciples were college graduates
There is no qualification
There should be people you have won to the Lord and that want to be baptized
John 20:19–22 (KJV 1900)
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
Sent = apostle
There was the office of apostles
Hebrews 3:1–2 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; 2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
Jesus was a sent out apostle
To save this world
You are sent to Warwick, North Kingstown, Cranston, Johnston, West Warwick
Luke 4:18–19 (KJV 1900)
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Preaching the Gospel to the poor - without Jesus
Heal the broken-hearted
I have and you have, not just for the pastor
Luke 19:10 (KJV 1900)
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Use your words and your brain
When you understand you are sent, opportunities will be seen
3. We Are Sent
1 John 3:8 (KJV 1900)
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
We have been sent to destroy the works of satan
Matthew 28:19–20 (KJV 1900)
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
What are we sent to do?
You have to learn to Go and make time to go
Teaching them
Be discipling them - each of us need disciples
Acts 26:17–18 (KJV 1900)
17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
4. We Have Been Given Power To Go
I feel powerless - that’s in the flesh
But we have the power through the Spirit
Acts 1:8 (KJV 1900)
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
I’m so thankful for those who encouraged me
Whatsoever a man soweth
We have been sowing seed for years and many times we don’t even know if it’s coming up.
Acts 17:6 (KJV 1900)
6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
5. We Have Been Given Power To Serve
Zechariah 3:1–2 KJV 1900
1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. 2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; Even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
Zechariah 4:6 KJV 1900
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, Saith the Lord of hosts.
God has empowered us, but wont effectuate that power until you do something.
Moses didn’t need God’s power to change the shepherds staff to a serpent if he didn’t go to pharaoh
The power of God meets you at the point of action and obedience
6. You Have a Responsibility - Be Responsible
Jude 23 KJV 1900
23 and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Some have compassion
You are called - Go - You are Empowered - serve - you are responsible
There will be judgement
Wipe away all our tears
So send I You
Jesus deserves our witness
It’s for His Glory
