Light in the Darkness

Verse: Genesis 45:4-8
Intro: I’ve noticed something recently as this pandemic has presented itself. That some people are sadly really selfish. For instance, the Great Toilet Paper shortage of 2020. People have bought up all the TP, hand sanitizer, gloves, you name it and they’ve taken it. They have taken social distancing as an excuse to be rude and mistreat others. This is the sad truth about the world today but as Christians we are called to a higher standard. We can not be like every one else in these times, we must rise above and be a beacon of hope for humanity. Just because the world seems to have been put on hold, doesn’t mean that the Gospel stops with it. We must still be the light in this world.

III. Show God in You (Object Lesson)
Name brand and brown paper bag.
People would most likely pick what looks appealing what they can see. They don’t want a greasy paper bag with no idea of what’s inside. The Holy Spirit is in us but people will never know that if we don’t show it on the outside. No matter how bad this world gets, we should still be showing love and kindness. Let people see the Jesus in you.
Conclusion: These are definitely uncertain times, and there are many things that are out of our control but what we can control is who we are. The way we act and how we treat people. This world is in need of hope more than ever before. They need people to depend on and a reason to believe that things will one day get better. Don’t allow this pandemic to change who you are. This world is becoming darker and darker, but remember, a light shines brightest in the dark.
