Review here.
Give a story, scripture reference, or opening illustration that refers to the passage or can be referenced throughout the message.
Example: In Genesis we have the story of Abraham sacrificing his son. Tell story. This story foreshadows John 3:16 by God giving his only son.
Give series information if applicable.

Body

1. Story 1: Envyings / Murder (1 Kings 21:)

A man named Naboth owned a vineyard
King Ahab of Israel wants it - 21:2
Naboth said no - 21:3
Ahab throws a fit
Jezebel his wife takes things into her own hands - 21:7-10
Through Elisha God tells Ahab that he will be killed for this, but he repents and God spares him, BUT HIS PUNISHMENT IS BROUGHT ON HIS SONS HOUSE

2. Story 2: Drunkenness (Genesis 19:30-38)

Lot (Abraham’s Nephew) has just escaped sodom and gomorroah
His wife was turned into a pillar of salt
Lot and his daughters are hiding out in a cave
The daughter’s fiances were killed in Sodom and Gomorrah, so they believe they will no longer be able to find husbands
They decide to get their father drunk, and sleep with him so they can have children, and his name will continue
They both get pregnant
Their two sons become the nations of the Moabites and the Ammonites, two of Israels enemies.

Many a man does that, when he is drunk, which, when he is sober, he could not think of without horror.

3. Story 3: Revellings (Sinful partying, loss of control)(Daniel 5)

1-4 Belshazzar throws an terrible sinful party
5-6 Fingers from a hand appear and begins writing on the wall
7-9 The kings men couldn’t understand what the writing meant
10-15 The Queen remembers daniel, who was able to interpret dreams
16-29 Daniel interprets the words to mean that the king has sinned, and he would be punished
Read vs. 30
Application
One commonality with every one of these men, is their punishment and lasting effects of their sin
Ahab - his son’s were cursed
Lot - he is never mentioned again in scripture and his descendents are enemies of God
Belshezzar’s kingdom is removed in one night
Sins of defiance and a loss of self control are instantly gratifying, while continuously punishing.
Short term fixes that turn into long term problems.
That party, that drink, that angry interaction with someone, though it may be small can ruin your life.
Solution
Galatians 5:26&25
Don’t be desirous of vainglory
selfish pride, sinful satisfaction
LIVE IN THE SPIRIT, WALK IN THE SPIRIT
What are the aspects of the spirit?
Galatians 5:22–23 KJV 1900
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Do you desire a life of blessing or cursing?
Do you desire a life that is clean or dirty?
Do you desire a life that is continually satisfying, or instantly gratifying?
Are you living in the works of the flesh, or walking in the spirit?

Conclusion

Remember
God Love
God Gave
God Receives
Closing Quote
Example: “God has and will forever love you, so much that he gave his son, and he is ready to receive you.”
