Introduction
Introduction
After your spiritual new birth, believers in Christ are supernaturally related as brothers and sisters in Christ and should consistently support one another through the practice of Biblical love (based on John 13:35; Romans 12:4-5; 1 Corinthians 10:17; Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:11-22, 4:11-16; Colossians 2:18-19).

Expressions of Biblical Love in the Gospels
Be gentle with one another, that you may inherit the earth.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Make peace with one another, that you may be called the sons of God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Reconcile with one another, that you may be fit to worship and serve the Lord.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
Give to him that asks of you.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Forgive others that God may forgive you.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Do not judge others that you may not be judged.
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Reprove your brother so that he may be reconciled with you and with the Lord.
15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
Serve one another, following the example of Christ.
26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. 17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
Love others as you do yourself so they may know that you are one of Christ’s disciples.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

Meet one another’s needs by sharing God’s provisions that He has placed under your care.
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. 34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, 37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
Minister to others, according to your spiritual giftedness, as a functioning and mutually edifying member of the local church.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love since you are a member of God’s family through Christ.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Give preference to one another and thus demonstrate honor to a fellow-believer.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Be of the same mind with one another that you may not be wise in your own estimation but instead that you may glorify the Lord through your unity.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: 6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Love one another that you may fulfill the law of God in its sum: “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Do not judge one another and thus acknowledge God’s sovereignty in the lives of one another. (Romans 14:1-13)
Pursue things that make peace and the building up on one another that you may not lead others to stumble.
14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
Accept one another and thus follow Christ’s example of acceptance to the glory of God.
7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
Admonish one another because you are enabled by the Lord to do so.
14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

Be of the same mind with one another to preserve the unity in the local church.
10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Do not be greedy but instead wait for one another when you come to eat and thus express the unity of the local church.
17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. 20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord’s supper. 21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. 22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
There should be no divisions in the local church but the members should have care for one another.
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
Give yourself first to the Lord and then to one another that you may demonstrate participation in the support of other believers.
4 Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

Through love, serve one another.
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
In living by the Spirit, do not become boastful, challenging one another, or envying one another.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Gently restore those who are caught in any sin.
1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Bear one another’s burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ.
2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Bear with one another in love and preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Be truthful because you are a member with others in the local church.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
Forgive one another just as Christ forgave you.
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
Be kind and tenderhearted toward one another, putting off bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and malice.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
In living a life controlled by the Spirit, be subject to one another in the fear (reverence) of Christ.
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Be of the same mind with one another to maintain the fellowship of the Spirit in affection and compassion.
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Regard one another as more important than yourself, not dealing with anyone out of selfishness or empty conceit.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Bear with one another in love since you have been chosen by God.
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
With all wisdom teach and admonish one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Love one another since the Lord causes you to increase and abound in His love.
12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
Comfort one another with the promise of our Lord’s return that you may not sorrow without hope.
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Encourage one another while you await the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
Greatly appreciate and highly esteem those who have charge over you and live in peace with one another.
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
Seek after that which is good for one another and do not pay evil for evil.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

Encourage one another lest you become hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Stimulate one another to love and good deeds and hold fast the confession of your hope without wavering.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Assemble with one another so that you may encourage one another as the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ draws near.
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so you may be made whole.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Expressions of Biblical Love in 1 Peter
Expressions of Biblical Love in 1 Peter
Love one another out of your obedience to the truth and thus cover many sins.
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
Be a blessing to one another out of your calling in Christ to inherit a blessing.
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
Be hospitable to one another without complaint.
9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
Through love, serve one another since you have been gifted to do so.
10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Clothe yourself with humility toward one another because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Expressions of Biblical Love in 1 & 2 John
Fellowship with one another through Christ because you are walking in His light.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Love one another and be obedient to God in response to His love for you.
11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
Meet the needs of your brother because of God’s abiding love in you.
17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
