Romans 7:21- 8:12
INTRODUCTION:
Paul here is writing to Christians in Rome a Church he has never visited. he is own his way to visit them and wants to encourage, and be in courage by them. he hopes to come to them after he delivers a gift to the needy Christians in Jerusalem, and after visiting Rome his goal is to go to Spain and encourage the Christians there.
Paul talks about a principle that is this section of Scripture that i think is Key to our walking the spirit filled life.
I believe this is a principle we all as Christians struggle with.
OUTLINE
A Champion knows the battle is real Galatians 5:16-18 “16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives.
Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants.
And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires.
These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
2, A champion knows what to avoid Romans 8:5-6 “5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.
6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death.
But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.”
3. A champion knows what the win looks like 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 “1 Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people.
I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ. 2 I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger.
And you still aren’t ready, 3 for you are still controlled by your sinful nature.
You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other.
Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature?
Aren’t you living like people of the world?”
Conclusion:
W?hat is your battle?
