The temptation is to look at this and say this has nothing to do with me.
But the principles clearly being taught is: respect other people’s property.
If you hurt someone.
Make it right.
If you injure their property: Make it right.

It is reasonable to assume he is their to hurt you and you have the right to defend yourself.

The Bible requires restitution not just punishment.
If you have anything in your possession that is lost or destroyed then you must pay for it.

V29 - sacrifice to God.
Give the first born to him.
It was orginally planned each first born was going to be the priest.
But their sin stopped that.
Be a person of integrity.
Even if everyone else is doing it.
Even if it would really help the poor person.

CONCLUSION: This world is not our home.
