We are literally conditioned to not to surrender
The key problem here is that this type of conditioning makes it very hard to develop spiritually as Christians.
Why
The Christian Life is Based on Surrender
The Christian Life is Based on Surrender
Every day we struggle to make a living, provide a home, and build some kind of security for ourselves.
We think about it, stress over it, overextend our time for it, and often neglect our health, families, and church life in order to win this daily battle. And yet, the Lord says to us in
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Even in our service God and his Church there is an ongoing spiritual struggle
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Our Surrender Must be Unconditional
Our Surrender Must be Unconditional
The difference between conditional and unconditional surrender
We’ve been at war with God all our lives since the age of accountability
We have conditions we present
All go to a church, but don’t make me feel bad
Don’t ask me to do anything
Don’t run late
Don’t be boring
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
When you come to God through Christ, when you become a Christian, God requires an unconditional surrender of your life to Him.

DISCIPLESHIP
A. Exclusivity
A. Exclusivity
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.
B. Cross Bearing
B. Cross Bearing
Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
we have to bear the cross of resisting temptation time and time again when we would love to give in.
Not complaining
Stop saying why me! Why not you
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
C. Letting Go

Rich Young Ruler
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich.

The point here is that you must be prepared to relinquish control of all you own and put it into God's hands as part of your unconditional surrender.
The Rewards of Surrender
The Rewards of Surrender
May loose family, friends, job, freedom - So what’s the reward
Surrender brings you to another level of spiritual experience which is 100 times or 100% superior to the experience of life that you were having before you surrendered to God. That's the point. Not quantity, it's quality.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;
