Relativism was the moral norm.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.

Judges 10:1–3 ESV
After Abimelech there arose to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he lived at Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim. And he judged Israel twenty-three years. Then he died and was buried at Shamir. After him arose Jair the Gileadite, who judged Israel twenty-two years.

Lineage

Married to Elkanah.
Elkanah was a Levite living in the land of Ephraim.

The sons of Elkanah: Amasai and Ahimoth, Elkanah his son, Zophai his son, Nahath his son, Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elkanah his son. The sons of Samuel: Joel his firstborn, the second Abijah.

Hannah’s Story

Every year, Elkanah and his whole household went to Shiloh to worship and sacrifice to the Lord.
The Peace Offerings were the only offerings in which the offerer received back a portion of the offering.
The Peace Offering culminated in a communal meal which was eaten by the offerer, his family and those in attendance with him.
There were three types of Peace Offerings: the Thank Offering, Vow Offering, Freewill Offering.
Thank Offering: offered due to a blessing from the Lord.
Vow Offering: offered due to God honoring a vow made.
Freewill Offering: offered freely for no particular reason.
It was from the Peace Offering that Hannah received a double portion.
Peninnah harassed Hannah over her barrenness to where she was so distraught she was unable to partake in the communal meal.
Hannah’s barrenness wasn’t a sin, but rather a perceived social flaw.

Bullying

About 42 percent of kids have been bullied while online with one in four being verbally attacked more than once.
About 35 percent of kids have been threatened online.
About 58 percent of kids and teens have reported that something mean has been said about them or to them online.
Other bullying statistics show that about 77 percent of students have admitted to being the victim of one type of bullying or another.
The American Justice Department bullying statistics show that one out of ever 4 kids will be bullied sometime throughout their adolescence. (from www.bullyingstatics.org)
The devil will continually harass you about a sin or perceived social flaw if it will keep you away from the Lord’s presence.

Hannah’s Victory

Hannah was victorious due to her diligence in prayer.
1 Peter 3:12 ESV
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
As believer’s, we have an advocate in the Lord.
He not only hears but answers our prayer as well.
The Lord will either grant our petition, table it, or deny it.
It is His choice alone as to how to answer our prayer.
He answers it according to divine will.
Our victory only comes through the Lord regardless of how He chooses to answer our prayers.
