Knowing, Growing and Going
How many of you are coffee addicts? Energy Drinks? Supplements, vitamins
It is hard for me to imagine faith with out also imagining God helping, healing and empowering.
Established this second thing
Not to go until
Jesus also didn’t go until he himself was anointed
Jesus blessed them
Of all the gifts given to mankind by God, there is none greater than the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift God wants us to have.
He does a work in the hearts of all people everywhere.
Follow and Fulfill
He is THE Revealer of truth. The Spirit’s presence within us enables us to understand and interpret God’s Word.
the Holy Spirit’s roles is that of gift-giver. First Corinthians 12 describes the spiritual gifts given to believers in order that we may function as the body of Christ on earth. All these gifts, both great and small, are given by the Spirit so that we may be His ambassadors to the world, showing forth His grace and glorifying Him.
The Spirit also functions as fruit-producer in our lives. When He indwells us, He begins the work of harvesting His fruit in our lives—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). These are not works of our flesh, which is incapable of producing such fruit, but they are products of the Spirit’s presence in our lives.
There is a promise of the baptism of the Spirit
Clothed
They had an expectation that Jesus was still the one who would do it.
Even their process for picking another apostle seems REALLY human
Power and Guidance
You may not see the need for this level of empowerment in your daily, but, if you evangelize, minister; it doesn’t take long for you to realize that you cannot meet the deep needs of people on your own abilities.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is considered a separate experience from both conversion and water baptism.
It is considered an event in which the Christian receives the Spirit’s power in a new way,
enabling them to more readily partake in miracles and spiritual gifts.
Holy Spirit as a mystical force. Others understand the Holy Spirit as the impersonal power, but He, the Holy Spirit, is a person, a divine being. The third person of the Triune God.
the Comforter and Counselor. teacher, transformer that Jesus promised He would be.
Baptizo
The baptism of the Holy Spirit may be defined as a work whereby the Spirit of God further develops the believer into deep union with Christ and into union with other believers in the body of Christ.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit does three things, 1) it joins us, deeply unites us to the Trinity, and 2) it actualizes our identity in Christ, 3) it missionalizes us
Romans 8:26 The Spirit Helps us in our weakness
Phil 2:13 “for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”
Joel 2:28-29 ““And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.”
Once you realize that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift God wants you to have and a gift that you want and need, you may still have questions about what might happen as you open yourself to be baptized with the Spirit. Keep in mind that your personal experience may differ from that of other people. No one can tell you exactly how things will happen for you, but there are a few things to keep in mind as you get ready to receive:
Get Right
Ask in Faith
Be Prepared
Stay Focused
Relax
Worship
Seek the Giver
Just because a person lacks one gifting (for example, speaking in tongues) does not mean they have not been gifted with the Spirit. “Are all apostles?” Paul asks. “Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?” (1 Corinthians 12:29-30, emphasis mine)
The knowledge that the Holy Spirit of God has taken up residence in our lives, that He performs all these miraculous functions, that He dwells with us forever, and that He will never leave or forsake us is cause for great joy and comfort. Thank God for this precious gift—the Holy Spirit and His work in our lives!
