1 Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”
2 But Abram replied, “O Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? Since you’ve given me no children, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth.
3 You have given me no descendants of my own, so one of my servants will be my heir.”
4 Then the Lord said to him, “No, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own who will be your heir.”
5 Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
6 And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.
A standing promise
The practice of committing to another person to accomplish some task. Also: Oaths; Precious Promises; Promises; Promises of God; Promises to Believers; Promises to the Believer; Vows
God has made you and me some promises.
Do you believe GODS Promises?
Are you still holding on to his promises or do you get discouraged when you don’t see something come to pass in “your time” or according to “your ways”
Are you tempted to give up?
When God speaks a word it cannot come back void.
10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Something that is standing means it is ACTIVE!
12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
When God promises something it will come to pass!
Many of you the Lord has promised you something but you haven’t seen it come to pass
The enemy uses tactics of “prove it and prove it now”
But when you truly KNOW GOD, when you have an intimate relationship with the KING you do not operate in that mindset.
KINGDOM MINDSET
His Kingdom is Eternal
It is not here today and gone tomorrow
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children,
17 Mas la misericordia de Jehová es desde la eternidad y hasta la eternidad sobre los que le temen, Y su justicia sobre los hijos de los hijos;
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
2 Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting.
34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation;
Daniel 4:34 (RVR60)
There are certain buildings and structures that took so long to build that those people who began building it never got to see the finished building or structure. They never got to enjoy it. They never got to enjoy if its blessings. But yet they set out to build it anyway. Why? Their vision was based on something long term.
Examples:
1. The Great Wall of China:
This Great Wall took over 2,000 years to complete. It was started in 400 BC and completed in AD 1600. Many dynasties of Chinese people performed the construction. Once it was finished, the Great Wall of China covered 4,160 miles and hosted an armed guard of more than 1 million soldiers. It was a formidable defense against the Northern raiders and also showed Chinese Imperial might.
2. St Peters Bascilica
Located in Vatican City, Rome, this is one of the most impressive church buildings in the world. It took a total of 144 years to build. In the 4th century, Emperor Constantine commissioned its construction. Within its walls, you can find the murals painted in the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo as well as 100 tombs under the basilica.
3. Mayan Structure
This is an ancient Mayan building complex. Located in South America, Chichen Itza took 400 years to construct. The first block was laid in AD 600 and the last one was laid in AD 1,000. The Mayans had a vibrant culture and impressive architecture.
So if an earthly master tells you do something you will not see completed, What then if the KING OF KINGS asks you to begin something you might not see finished with your own eyes?
His promises are Eternal.
His Kingdom is Eternal
2. His Kingdom always has Greater Purpose!
It is tempting to make everything about me, my needs, my wants, my desires, my my my, me me me.
We sometimes change it to “My kingdom come My will be done”
What is the Will of God for my life?
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
6 not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
6 no sirviendo al ojo, como los que quieren agradar a los hombres, sino como siervos de Cristo, de corazón haciendo la voluntad de Dios;
a. Service to God based on his promises
20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
b. Giving based on his promises
21 Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.
3. God always fulfills his end of the Promise (Covenant)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
20 Behold, I received a command to bless: he has blessed, and I cannot revoke it.
21 He has not beheld misfortune in Jacob, nor has he seen trouble in Israel. The Lord their God is with them, and the shout of a king is among them.
20 He aquí, he recibido orden de bendecir; El dio bendición, y no podré revocarla.
Conclusion:
So what has God promised you? Us?
10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
29 Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas;
28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
