Matthew 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

To begin with as we glint gleam and gaze at this glorious text we find some great and gallant facts. As we look at the bible concerning the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ there are some incredible Commissions of Jesus.

First of all The Matthew 28:16 text tell us that the disciples were obedient and went apart to a mountainous region as they had been instructed. Because obedience is better than sacrifice. And when we are obedient to what the word says our lives will be blessed, Amen?

Because verse 17 says that when they saw Jesus they worshipped Him. When we come to church we ought to be here to worship God and praise God because when praises go up blessings come down. The bible says let Everything that have breath praise the lord Praise ye the Lord. Don’t worry about your haters.Don’t worry about your doubters. And the bible says that Thomas was a doubter and probably a few more as well. But you can’t make me doubt Him because I know too much about Him.

And then in verse 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. This is called the Great Declaration. Jesus said All Power All Authority All Exousia meaning All Authority Physically and Spiritually. Physically because earth is tangible and touchable and Then Spiritual because Heaven is a real place in the Spirit realm.

And so with this Great Declaration of Power and Authority, the disciples of Jesus were given the famous Great Commission. That is to say that the Throne of Heaven is backing them up. I always want Heaven backing me up How about you? Today’s sermon focuses specifically on the Great Commissions.

1. In Matthew 28:19 the first word of this Gospel is Go! Go is an action word. Go mis a perpetual word Go means don’t stay. Go means get to moving. Go means to produce for God’s kingdom. Go means to evangelize, the gospel to the loss. Go means to teach talk and tell the story about our savior’s birth, His life, His death, His burial, His resurrection and His ascension back up to the heaven realm.

And Just saying I’m a Christian is not enough.it’s not enough!!! I don’t want to stress you out or get all in your business but our job is to make known to the civilized and uncivilized world the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the Good News about our Christian beliefs.

Listen real good at some point in your life you’re going to have to make a stand. Tell your neighbor: at some point. And while they are recording my actions up in heaven. Because the bible say that there are three that bare record the Father the Word and the Spirit. So since heaven is recording every word I say every thought I think and every thing I do, then as for me and my house we shall serve the Lord.

And What’s bad is that you can know the Word but leave your children and grandchildren at home and you can not say, as for me and my house , and some of our children are wayyyy out in left field and some of them have left the ball park all together. Our children not on our page!!!

I know this because the bible says Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. If our children aren’t the Word of God then what ever else that they are hearing is the key thing that influencing their behavior. When I look at the news in Baton Rouge it’s the children that are doing all that killing, and They are not in Nobody’s Church!!

And their mothers and fathers are the cause of the trouble. Because the bible says train up a child in the way that he should go and when he gets old he shall not depart.Every Sunday very early in the morning I remind all my children to get up and go to church. Go to Church! Get up! Go because Go means don’t stay.

The second word of power is teach Teach in the Greek vernacular in this text is Sophronizo and it means to make a sound mind, to discipline correctly with sober mindness. Meaning you ought to have somebody that teach and preach the truth because the truth will set you free. As a lifelong learner of Jesus Christ I’m concerned about accurate interpretation of scripture. And Jesus was serious about teaching and preaching. Matthew’s Gospel said Teaching and Mark’s Gospel in that 16th chapter Jesus used the word Preach. preach in the Greek vernacular is the word Kerysso And Preach means at least several things 1. preach means to make an official announcement. 2. Preach means to make a public declaration it means to say it loudly.Preach means to herald and cry loudly and 3. Preach means to make a proclamation that is divine in origin.

The general rule is to stand up and Preach Preach the word and the general rule is to sit down when you’re teaching and the proper exegesis says don’t use elasticity to make your point. Study to have depth enough that the point is realized as you’re teaching and preaching, That’s what Jesus did. This Great Commission has real implications real aspirations and certainly real expectations. So the first word of power was Go, the second word of power was teach and/or preach and the third word of power is Baptizing them . The bible says in Matthew 28:19 baptizing them in the name of the Father , and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost : Colon meaning pause::: Double dots means to pause. Baptizing means to put you in the water or dip you in the water or to briefly submerge you under water as a symbol and a sign that a change has come over you. And the bible says baptize them In the Name of the Father In the Name of the Son and in the Name of the Holy Ghost. In other words you and I were saved by the Trinity God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Ghost and it was a Trinitarian Act meaning that God the Father had a Plan for our salvation in Eternity Past, And God the Son bought our Salvation back on a hill called Calvary and then God the Holy Ghost sealed our fate on the day of Pentecost. Hallelujah!!! somebody. So as Baptist believers we believe in Baptism. And our doctrine comes from when John baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. John Dip Him down in the water. The bible has a prescription and manual of how to baptize a believer.

And then in this Great Commission the next two words are teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: Well I ask the Holy Ghost a question What should we be teaching since the text say instruct them on being Observers to everything that Jesus has been commanding them to do. What does Observe mean? It means to look at watch, pay close attention, specialize in details, while picking up wisdom and education along the way. So observe What? I found it in Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

The Divine Directive from Jesus is found in Luke 24:47 where Jesus tells His disciples they ought to preach Repentance and Remission of sins to all nations.

Let’s talk about what Jesus said to teach them and what Jesus said to preach to them. 1. Repentance is a Change of Mind. Repentance in the Greek vernacular is the word Metanoia and Metanoia means Reformation. It means to Repent. Metanoia means to reform and to reverse our decision making process. Metanoia means to think differently simply put Repentance means a change of Mind. Until you can get a lady or a gentleman to change his /her mind, they! Ain’t! budging!

Again, Repentance Metanoia is a change of Mind.

Then the second word in the Jesus’ Divine Directives to His disciples is the Phrase Remission of Sins . Every second Sunday we recite the Holy Communion vows “This cup represents Jesus’ blood that was shed for the Remission of sins for many.” The word Remission in the Greek vernacular is the word Aphesis. Aphesis means Freedom from guilt, Aphesis means pardon from sins. Aphesis means deliverance from the pits of hell, Aphesis means we have forgiveness with the liberty of being left alone!!! Meaning Nobody in here has the right to throw somebody else pass lifestyle up in their face every time you feel like breaking them down. And I believe that Jesus coined this phrase from several different incidents in the bible. Y’all remember when the woman was caught in the very act of adultery, and a mob crowd wanted her stoned to death. Jesus simply stooped down on the ground and began writing in the sand. Her accusers peeled off one by one until the woman who had been caught in the very act of adultery was standing before Jesus all alone. The Greek Term Aphesis meaning Remission of sins cleared the woman pardoned the woman, delivered the woman forgave the woman and then gave the woman the right to have liberty and be left alone and never bothered again. Anybody in here ever had Aphesis Remission of sins? Maybe I didn’t do what the woman did but I’ve done so many other awful things that if you don’t know them I’m surely taking them to my grave. Big question aren’t go glad Jesus doesn’t condemn us and aren’t you glad that After the Resurrection Jesus’ two major doctrinal teaching and preaching points were repentance and remission of sins

I’ve got to close but tah Without Remission of sins their is no Salvation. And so since my salvation is tied to Jesus and Him remitting my sins then I want Jesus to save my soul make me whole pick me up turn me around put my feet on solid ground... Oh Lord and Then I heard Jesus saying And Lo I’ll be with you All the way even to the end of the world.. Amen
