The Christian cannot continue in willful sin without receiving discipline from the Lord.
The willful sin these believers were facing was a return to trust in the sacrificial system, and a quietness about their faith in God.
This passage is not dealing with a loss of salvation, nor is it addressed to unbelievers “if WE go on sinning”. Rather, it is warning of God’s judgement against His OWN people who willfully sin against Him.
Faith Seeks the Presence of God
Faith endures in trial and persecution because it seeks the presence of God.
Faith rests in the work of Christ, and His promised return.
Faith Believes the Promise of God
Everything is based on the Word of God!
Matthew 4:4 “4 But he answered, “It is written, “ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ””
Creation displays God’s Power. Psalm 19:1-2 “1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”
