To be a disciple of Jesus we must have fellowship with Him.
One scarlet thread that runs through the Gospel is the interaction and communion between Jesus and his disciples.
Time and time again we see both Jesus and the disciples asking and answering questions of each other.
The disciples were and are an example for you and I.
The more you read and study the disciples we see there foolish ideologies, faithlessness, and ignorance.
However, we also see there pursuit of Jesus, obedience (Even when they didn’t understand), and most of all their desire to know God.
When all of the smoke is settled, and the noise is silenced, the only aspect of discipleship that truly matters is knowing Christ.
And there is no substitute for a personal relationship.
In Mark 9:14-29 We see that the disciples lacked power.
As the questioned Jesus His response was quite profound.
Jesus said, “It could only be done by prayer.”
We must learn to pray.
The disciples asked Jesus, in Luke 11:1
There are prayers of liturgy, written prayers, THE LORD’S PRAYER, and others.
However the heart of prayer is a pouring out of ones heart to Jesus.
Interestingly, we see that up until this point the focus had been on faith but now the focus has shifted towards prayer.
WHY?
Because faith is prayer is the avenue to faith.
Likewise, faith is the power of prayer.
