Introduction

What are the Pslams about?

A collection of Hebrew poetry
They do not rhyme in sound but thought. Often we find a reptition even an enforcement in the second lines of stanzas.
They highlight:
The work and character of God
The importance of praising God
God’s kingship and sovereignty
The character of the righteous and the wicked
The book displays God as one who is present with His people

The Psalms can be viewed from the standpoint of man responding to God’s covenant

God’s character will remain constant, but what about mine???

To get this book rolling, the tone is set by making a clear distinction between the righteous and the wicked.
