The day Jesus died the payment for sins was paid in full.
Here are some DETAILS about the payment:
I. The Payment Was Accepted. V.38
I. The Payment Was Accepted. V.38
38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
II. The Payment Was Applied. Vs.39-41
II. The Payment Was Applied. Vs.39-41
39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.
III. The Payment Was Abiding. Vs.42-46
III. The Payment Was Abiding. Vs.42-46
42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. (Isa 9:6)
Verse 43 gives you one of the two “dissenters” to the Jewish council of verse 1 that condemned Jesus. Joseph of Arimathea was called “an honourable counsellor”; he was honorable in that he hadn’t “consented to the counsel and deed” of Caiaphas and his cronies (Luke 23:50–51). The reason was, he was a “secret disciple,” along with his buddy Nicodemus (John 7:50–51, 19:38–39). Now both of them come forward publicly, with Joseph taking the lead. He goes “in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus”; then Nicodemus joins him to prepare the body for burial (John 19:39–40).
44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
46 And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
Unlike Islam, the Christian faith gives great honor to women. Only one of the apostles witnessed the Lord’s death (John—John 19:26); the rest abandoned Him (Judas killed himself—Matt. 27:1–5). But the women who followed Him were all present at His death, His burial (vs. 47), and His resurrection (Matt. 28:1–9). In fact, they were the first to “preach” the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:7–10); the apostles, the leaders of the church, had to get their information from these women first (Luke 24:22–23). The only use for women in Islam is as sex objects and “breeders.” Why these left-wing feminists side with Moslems can only be explained by their hatred of Jesus Christ, because there is certainly nothing in Mohammed’s religion that could be appealing to such a philosophy. Jesus Christ gave true liberty and dignity to women.
