Holy Ones
I love the title of this parsha, because it tells us of the Holiness of God that is unattainable except for when God makes us holy.
1. You Shall be holy, for I, Adonai your God, am Holy Lev. 19:2
“Speak to all the congregation of Bnei-Yisrael and tell them: You shall be kedoshim, for I, Adonai your God, am holy.
Moses directs what God has spoken to Israel, and tells them that they shall be Holy.... As you see there is no statement of when, rather, we go straight into the commands of Adonai to us.
What I love hear is that God gives the example of who He is! The first command is to be Holy, but it is also a proclomation that God makes us Holy. The God shows us who He is saying.....
Each one of you is to respect his mother and his father.... Does God have a father & mother? Leviticus 19 already sets the stage to show us who the Messiah would be!
In fact, a situation happens as Yeshua is a boy roaming around the temple and his parents are going bezerk, because they realize that Yeshua was missing form the family. When they find Yeshua, and He submits and respects his mother & father, but most importantly He was submitted to the Will of HaShem! What was the will of HaShem? G-d’s Will is to bring forth His Kingdom, that we His people would be with Him and Him with us! So He gives us His Shabbat as a sign that we would be sanctified when we rest in Him.
2. Honor/Respect your mother and father, and keep My Sabbaths. I am Adonai your God - Lev. 19:3
“Each one of you is to respect his mother and his father, and keep My Shabbatot. I am Adonai your God.
I got to say that I really love how God sets up what it means to be saved! It begins with God prcolaiming over our lives that we are recieved and that we are made clean. It is clearly only something God can do. God then brings His Sanctification which means that there is a cleaning process that takes place. What does this cleaning process consist of? It’s easy, we continue with Lev. 19:4
“Do not turn to idols, or make molten gods for yourselves. I am Adonai your God.
If God has set you apart, then why are you trying to make something that was not made for you.
For example: I go to a shoe store to get some nice shoes! I know my feet have grown, and I need to get my feet measured. So I go to the expert and ask them, hey, can you tell me what size shoe I am? They shoe person says, yes… he measures my feet, and he tells me.... well it looks like you are a size 11.5 and because your feet are wide… I recommend these types of shoes.
So I look at the shoes, and I think to myself… well, I dont like those shoes… perhaps I can get these other shoes that are on sale, but they are 1 size smaller than what the gentleman just told me.....
This is exactly what we do!
Some may ask… what does this have to do with idols… well, instead of listening to the expert, you are listening to yourself. When your own ideas go over God’s perfect plan… you have already made an idol of that idea.
Now, I have a choice, walk out that store with shoes that will not bring comfort, or I can walk out that store with shoes that were made exactly for me.
Rather, anyone who eats it will bear his iniquity, since he has profaned what is holy to Adonai, and that soul will be cut off from his people.
A wrong decision will bring consequences, and people have to understand that some things are very serious. We had the example of does the shoe fit, but verse 8 is a trickier subject, because God is trying to keep Israel alive while they are in the desert. And if they did not do what God told them, they had very high risk of death.
GOD DOES NOT WANT ANYONE TO DIE! But, those who sin causing high risk to bring death to the camp… That soul had to be cut off from the people! Around us there are many that are causing real death, and
GOD DOESN’T WANT ANYONE TO DIE!
Yeshua didn’t come to condemn the world, He came to save it!
He came to declare to us…
YOU SHALL BE HOLY!
I was speaking to a friend not to long ago, and he said it nice and clear…
If you go late to work 10 times in a row with no valid excuse or without giving your boss a heads up on a situation that is taking place and you get fired… What/Who got you fired?
Hint: It was not your boss that came late… You got yourself fired.
God doesn’t send anyone to hell, instead He made a way to bring us up unto Himself! In Messiah Yeshua, we are made Holy, but now...
It is our duty to remain steadfast in Him!
When we do so, we will naturally provide for the poor and the outsider as God has done for us.
When we learn to love God then we are able to love other in the way that He loves.
We learn to give and leave room for those that are truly in need.
We are able to understand that stealing, lying, deceiving, using God’s Name in vain is not allowed to happen. It is wrong to oppress, rob, and to give what belongs to a person. You should not curse, nor should you purposely do something to make someone fall.....
You shall fear God!
This morning, I woke up at the sound of thunder, and it was so loud that as my mind repeated the sound, I thought… imagine the voice of God. So I sat quietly, and spoke to God thanking Him for His mercies that are new every morning.
This I recall to my heart—
therefore I have hope:
Because of the mercies of Adonai
we will not be consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning!
Great is Your faithfulness.
“Adonai is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in Him.”
Adonai is good
to those who wait for Him,
to the soul that seeks Him.
It is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of Adonai.
It is good for a man
to bear the yoke in his youth.
Let him sit alone and be silent,
since He has laid it upon him.
Let him put his mouth in the dust—
there may yet be hope.
“You are to do no injustice in judgment. You are not to be partial toward the poor nor show favoritism toward the great, but you are to judge your neighbor with fairness.
God is just and faithful to forgive us of all our unrighteousness....
YOU SHALL BE HOLY!
God treats everyone equally giving to each person the same hope in Messiah, and He will judge fairly according to how each has chosen to live....
How are you choosing to live your life from now on?
Are you coming to the feet of Messiah, or are you choosing to ignore God’s Word over you life.
It’s not about how much or how often you fear God, it is about whether of not you fear God!
God says it, You are to keep my Shabbaths, and reverence My Sanctuary....
Behold, you are the dwelling place of the most High G-d! In you, the Holy Spirit wants to dwell in. However, the Holy Spirit only dwells in those that fear God to help build us up!
IN MESSIAH YESHUA, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY”!
PRAISE BE TO GOD THAT WE HAVE BEEN MADE HOLY!
MAY ALL OF ISRAEL BE SAVED! FOR THE FEAR OF GOD IS IN THIS PLACE!
BARUCH HABA BESHEM ADONAI!
BLESSED IS HE WHO COME IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!
