27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, And my judgment is passed over from my God?
The Lord is asking why are you (Jacob = God’s people) asking these questions
My way his hid, my judgment is passed over . . . in other words
God does not see my troubles?
I am being mistreated and nothing is being done about it?
when you are going through it is tempting to ask God questions just like these
God, Do you not see all the troubles I’m facing?
hardships, struggles, problems, trials
Why are you letting people get away with treating me so bad?
just dogging me, lying on me,
mistreating me and acting like they are the victim
getting away with it and doing well?
Are you paying attention? I thought you were supposed to back up righteousness, justice
Well, God answers your questions with his own questions
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, That the everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding.
but don’t you know? haven’t you heard?
didn’t they teach you at church that
I am the everlasting God - I am not limited by time
I’ve seen everything thing that is happening to you -
every: year, month, week, day, hour, second, moment time
I know what’s going on!
the creator of the ends of the earth - i am not limited by space
not only do I see every moment, but I also see every moment, everywhere
nothing escapes my notice, I see your troubles . . .
in the country or in the city
in the suburb or in the hood
at the house or at the job
in public or in private
it doesn’t matter if people are doing evil against you
in your face or behind your back
though in-person conversation or phone call
through email or text message
down to the rolling of the eyes
see every personal attacks, I see systemic attacks
it doesn’t matter where the trouble comes from, I know everything that happens on my earth
So again, I know what’s going on!
And I never grow faint or weary - I am not limited by power
I don’t get faint and slip up every now and then, and miss something
I don’t get weary and have days where I’m not 100%, and my decisions are slightly off
my power is not weakening over the years, I still have same power
creation power in Genesis
Red Sea power with Moses
Sun stay still power with Joshua
David defeat Goliath power
Daniel in the Lion’s den power
Three Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace power
Resurrection power
I am on point every time, everywhere
And no one can measure the depths of my understanding - i am not limited by knowledge
I am the all wise God and I have it all worked out
I’m on the case!
you problem, your situation . . . .it’s handled!
it’s just that my plans, and my strategies, my timing, my actions are on such a deep level . . . that you couldn’t understand it
you are left with trusting me
so just remember this with what you are facing
29 He giveth power to the faint; And to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
in other words, I give power to the weak
and I give power to the powerless
when I am weak then he is strong
in other words, remember and trust that God will step in and help me
So when someone said, “He may not come when you want him, but he’s on time” . . . . remember that’s true
and when someone said, “He’s got the whole world in his hands . . . remember that’s true
and when someone else said, “ain’t nothing too hard for my God . . . that’s true
and when grandmamma said “relax baby, God knows what he’s doing” . . . that’s true
understand and appreciate that he will empower you, he will strengthen you
if you can get that
then though you can’t SEE your way, you know WHO to look to
though you don’t know which way to turn, you know WHO to turn to
though you run out of resources, you know WHO IS your source
because he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall:
This life is rough
the road is tough
there are so many obstacles, hills, mountains, valleys, and unexpected twists and turns
that the strongest of you will get tired, faint, exhausted, worn out, beaten down
in life, even the best of us will get to a point where they can’t go on
even the smartest of us will get to a point where they can’t go on
wisest can’t make it
most talented can’t do it
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; And they shall walk, and not faint.
wait on the Lord . . . when you wait on someone, that means you trust them to come through, make away, turn it around, fix it
and it is an enduring wait, trust, faith . . . more than a minute, not a give up quick faith, not a deadline faith
but a “God’s gonna do it” wait
Those who trust God like that will get their strength renewed
get some new strength, extra strength, divine strength . . . and this strength encompasses whatever is needed
new help, extra help, divine help
new power, extra power, divine power
new favor, extra favor, divine favor
wisdom, peace, joy
how much strength? power? help?
Depending on the situation, sometimes he will give . . . .
enough strength to mount up with wings like eagles
more than just to get by, enough to soar like an eagle
strength to take things to a whole new level
strength to get to a higher place
sometimes he will give enough strength to run and not grow weary
running requires a lot of effort . . . so enough strength for the exceptional demands of life, the big problems of life, the giant hurdles of life, biggest challenges, stuff is urgent, and you must run
and sometimes God will give you enough strength to walk and not faint
strength for the daily grind
strength for the everyday and constant pressures of life
job, children, spouse, bills
strength to stay with it and not give up
you will be able to handle things that have worn others out a long time ago
you will be able to accomplish things when others fell by the wayside
people will wonder how do you keep going - “The Lord gave me to walk and not faint”
don’t overlook or underestimate the power of just “keep walking”
and what is awesome, is that we see these three play out in the life of Jesus, our example
Jesus - soar, run, walk
Jesus - soar, run, walk
First, Jesus trusted in the Father, and waited 30 years before God the Father really began to work through him
and he soared - miracles, healings, feed 5,000 . . . super popular, they tried to force him to become king . . . he was soaring
But then he had to run - it got rough, people liked the miracles, but didn’t always like what he was saying, people turned on him, church leaders tried to trap him, a large group of disciples left him . . . but he rain on
but then he needed strength to walk - betrayed, beat, whipped, mocked, had to carry a cross to Calvary, and the Father sent Simon of Cyrene to help him carry the cross so that he could keep on walking
and though every step, minute, moment brought suffering, he kept on keeping on
And then he died, and just like our scripture
it seemed that his way was hid from the Lord
God did not see his trouble
God did not pronounce judgment on his wicked enemies
God let those against him rejoice
and all seemed lost . . . are you in a situation that all seems lost?
remember, there is no searching God’s understanding . . . you just have to wait . . . trust and wait
God was on the case
everything was handled
Jesus just had to wait until the 3rd day!
and on the third day he rose, with all power . . . now that’s some renewed strength!!!!
So the encouragement is that God knows, God sees, God is top of everything, and God has a handle on everything
don’t worry about God’s job
just do your job and trust in him, put your hope in him, in these times keep having faith . . . and he will give you the strength that you need
Strength to soar like never before
strength to run and overcome
strength to walk and handle the daily grind of life
ever Waiting for food at resturant?
you have expectation - you expect it to come
the longer you wait, the more expectation (I think that’s my order)
if you wait long enough, you eventually start to doubt
forgot my order, misplaced it, gave it to someone else
stomach rumbling . . . feel you can’t make it
but if finally comes out, but you are all upset that everything took so long
manager apologizes . . . meals on me, free desert
whole attitude changes . . that was worth the wait
same with God! it will be worth the wait!
they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength!
