The Father could have stopped him, but he didn’t he let him go.
Not only did he let him go, he gave him all that he wanted and more.
At times we have used his grace as a licence to sin.
We believe in Gods Providence.
The Fathers providence over all human affairs and circumstances.
Providential failure
Memories of the Fathers kindness stir within Him.
He is depending and relying on his Fathers mercy at this point.
When we are depending on Gods mercy, rather than our own performance, we are in a right frame of mind.
The Fathers foreknowledge, The Father knew the Son would try and return.
When we come seeking the Father, we find that the Father is already there waiting.
The Father of providence is at the end of all His works.
Orchestrating events according to His will.
He was never worthy in the first place, he just didn’t know it.
This was his moment of self discovery.
The older sons rejection of grace and anger at the Fathers mercy.
The older son could not enter in and enjoy the Fathers kindness because he was to busy trying to work for the Fathers approval.
