John 11
30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. 32 Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. 34 And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” 37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?” Jesus Raises Lazarus 38 Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” 44 The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
-In the heart of every Godly woman is the sweet spirit of our Savior.
Redemption takes the vilest sinner and makes them clean. Thank God for the work of redemption in our hearts. We celebrate the heart of Godly mother's today and honor God in doing so.
-The man who has a Godly woman in his life has a vivid example of his love for mankind.
Isaiah 66:13 ESV
As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
The man who has a Godly woman in his life is quickly reminded of the powerful savior we serve.
Proverbs 31:25 ESV
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.
John 10
The power of our Lord is not constrained by our timeline. v 32
-In this we see not only the cry of a disappointed follower, but we see the faith of one who believes in the power of Jesus. Our savior works in his time. He knows what is best.
We must be defined as people who trust in our Lord in all things with a realization that he can see the big picture.
The power of our Lord is overflowing with his love. v 33-35
-What more moving example of the heart of Christ than in the weeping of the holy savior.
Romans 5:8 ESV
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
The power of our Lord is redeeming. v 44
-The redeeming power of our savior is based on the intent of his timely and love filled will.
“Non-Christians seem to think that the Incarnation implies some particular merit or excellence in humanity. But of course it implies just the reverse: a particular demerit and depravity. No creature that deserved Redemption would need to be redeemed. They that are whole need not the physician. Christ died for men precisely because men are not worth dying for; to make them worth it.” ~ C.S. Lewis, Author
Have you trusted in the power of our Lord. We are not saved by the works of our hands.
Have you trusted him unto salvation?
Have you trusted him in believers’ baptism?
Have you trusted him in your relationships?
The power of our Lord is Invitational. v 38 The power of our Lord is commanding. v 44
