Thoughts on Chapter 2
The Nature of Dreams.
verses 1-13
What is a dream?
What is the difference in a spiritual and carnal dream?
What is the purpose of a spiritual dream?
Daniel’s Patience and Wisdom
verse 14-24
107 That’s the way dreams are interpreted. Now, many of you has come to me with dreams, and say things to me about dreams. I say, “Wait a minute. You never told it all.” See? And go back and pick it up. Then if you can’t tell what you dreamed, how you know the interpretation is right or not? See? You’ve got to, you’ve got to see the dream. A vision has to show the dream. And when you see the dream that the person dreamed, and can tell them before they tell you, then you know the interpretation.     62-1104M - Blasphemous Names
109 Those gimmicks that’s got every answer, be careful. When somebody stands up and speaks in the Name of the Lord, that must be true. It must be exactly the truth.
110 You might, in your mind, be impressed. I said, “Now, honey, I believe I could tell you what I think your dream is. But to tell you, in the Name of the Lord, no, sir.”
111 Cause, she knows the things. I said, “Have I ever spoke to you in the Name of the Lord but what it happened?” I said, “Thousands has come, and said this, that.” I said, “I cannot tell you what your dream is till I see it over again, and then He tells me, then I can say, ‘The Lord told me.’ Until then, I don’t know. I don’t want to take my own influence and my own opinion. I can’t say THUS SAITH THE LORD, because that’s me thinking it; that’s best, to my opinion.”
112 We must be sincere, because we’ve got the greatest thing in the world. The greatest treasure of Heaven is Christ among us. Why do we want a substitute of some little influence, to try to make ourselves somebody big among somebody here? Why not be a humble servant to Christ?
63-0112 - Influence
verses 25-45
Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream Interpreted
Herein is revealed an exact account of future, unfilled history that was prophesied to come upon the earth from the time of Daniel until Jesus would come and reign as the Son of David. It is known as “The Times of the Gentiles.”
Head of Gold.
It had within it four historical divisions which were known by the dominating empire in each division: Babylonian, Medo- Persian, Grecian, Roman. The greatest and most absolute monarchy was the Babylonian which was typified as the head of gold.
(1895 BC–539 BC)
Breast and arms of Silver
The next in glory was the Medo-Persian which as history bore out was truly less glorious and was typified as the breast and arms of silver.
(559 B.C. to 331 B.C.)
Belly and Thighs of Brass
Then there followed the Grecian age whose king was the most brilliant of all military leaders the world has ever known so it was fittingly typified as the belly and thighs of brass. It was less glorious than the other two preceeding it.
(331 to 146)
Legs of Iron, Feet of Iron and Clay.
Finally came the last kingdom which was the Roman Empire typified as the legs and feet. But wherein the former kingdoms were typified as pure minerals (pure gold, silver and brass) this last empire was pure iron only in the legs, for when it came to the feet it was a mixture of iron and clay, and mineral and soil just don’t mix and produce constancy and strength. But not only is this so, but most amazing, this last empire (Roman) would endure in its peculiar “mixed state” right up until Jesus returns.     CAB 05 - Pergamean
(33 BC to 1453 AD) (Followed by Holy Roman Empire, Catholic and Protestant “ten toes”)
Stone cut out without hands.
The Magi’s may have been reading this when they saw the star, it lead them to the stone, but God builds from the bottom up.
Verses 46-49
81 Now, I want you to notice, as soon as the king saw this vision, and he made it, he forced every person in his kingdom, in his domain, to worship this image. He made an image. And it’s believed by scholars…In which, I do believe that a Spirit-filled person would see it, that—that…He worshipped Daniel, is what he did. And he made an image to Daniel, and he called it “Belteshazzar.” He called Daniel, “Belteshazzar,” which was the name of his god. And he made an image, and forced every person to worship that image.
82 I want you to notice, that, the beginning of the Gentiles, when God dealt with them, they got haughty in their heart and forced every man to worship the image of a holy man. And the Gentile Age was issued in with that. It will go out in the same way, the same way, a boycott of the mark of the beast, that will force people to worship images and to do the things that we’ve been taught that was contrary to the Word of God.
