Godly Leadership

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people” (Titus 2:11)
Throughout his ministry, Apostle Paul demonstrated principle in all his dealings with the early church. Principle, being simply an unchanging, fixed truth. That truth being the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of this, Paul was able to demonstrate three qualities that made him an effective apostle of Jesus Christ.
1a. Paul had confidence: Paul was confident in the truth of the Gospel. He put God’s truth before his own personal honor. He was more concerned with believers coming to a saving faith, than was he concerned with the risk of public shame or humiliation.
1b. Can you think to a time in your walk with Christ where you may have rejected the prompting of the Holy Spirit to speak up about a righteous indignation; but chose silence because you were worried or more concerned with what others might have thought of you?
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16)
PEOPLE MUST KNOW!
2. Paul had wisdom: Paul told Titus to bring this message to the Church Leadership in Crete: “teach what accords with sound doctrine. Older men are to be sober-minded, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness” (Titus 2:1-2)
I’m a firm believer that at the conception of our faith when we first accept The Lord into our lives and His gift of salvation, that it is purely an emotional experience. But as we grow in the knowledge of the Word of God, our faith should transition into a faith of both emotion and intellect.
3. Paul had purpose: John MacArthur states that Paul was called by God for three things: Evangelism (bringing God’s elect towards a saving faith), Edification (teaching the knowledge of God’s truth), and Encouragement (helping believers to pursue Godliness)
We can endure tribulations because while we endure, we yet rejoice in the hope yet to come.
