Colossians 1:21–22 (NASB95)

The concept of repentance differs slightly in the Hebrew and Greek minds, but an emphasis upon right behavior is consistent throughout.
Redemption happened at the Cross and is only found in Jesus

Redemption The release of people, animals, or property from bondage through the payment of a price
Two things happened at the Cross

We were reconciled Colossians 1:22 “22 yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach—”
2. We Were Redeemed Galatians 3:13 “13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—”
IF God did all this work for us at the Cross why are some of us redeemed folks not walking in Freedom like we should?

Family member out of Jail but still acts as if they are still in jail
John 8: 31-36 “31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.
35 “The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever.
36 “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.”
Why is it so difficult for some of us to not live life like we are free?
we get free from Sin
Galatians 3:13 “13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—”

God freed me from smoking.
I just didn’t walk in it until 17 years later
How do you walk in the freedom of Redemption?
The Lord did all the work but We Still have a responsibility
We are responsible for our part in the relationship with Christ
Luke 9:23 “23 And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”
Take up your cross Daily is dying to yourself - meaning your flesh needs to die daily

Luke 19:1–10 (NASB95)
1 He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. 3 Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.
4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. 5 When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
6 And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly.
7 When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”
8 Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much.”
9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Jesus Value People regardless of who they are or what their social status was
Evangelistic Sermon Outlines (38.
Redemption and Restitution (Luke 19:1–10))
It is not enough to be redeemed by Christ.
We must be willing to make things right with man.
God gave the Ten Commandments to man—the first four toward God, the last six to mankind.
If you wrong anyone, or hurt anyone by evil talk and gossip, you should go to that person and make things right.
Many prayers are not answered because man is not right with mankind.
