Introduction:

explain the theme of the book and how it relates to us.
There are three main imperatives found in this passage. For honesty’s sake, there actually is a fourth imperative but it is the result of the first imperative; so I have made it a subpoint.
I. Hope- exiles suffering persecution don’t always have hope. It is easy to give into hopelessness.
II. Fear- as exiles, we naturally fear; but Peter challenges us to fear the right things
III. Love- as exiles, when we are stressed and hurting we tend to lash out at others.
Conclusion: What gives us the ability to do these things? the word of God Look into how this quote ties into the context of Isaiah 40.
