How do you speak God's truth to people who are in power? King Nebuchadnezzar's second dream was about his own humiliation- he was the great tree that will be chopped down to its stump. But instead of rubbing it in, Daniel was personally dismayed and alarmed at the meaning of the dream (Daniel 4:19). He exhorted the king to repent and show mercy to the oppressed that there may perhaps be a lengthening of his prosperity (Daniel 4:27). In a way, Daniel rebuked the king with tears in his eyes.
