What would you do if today was your last day?
Spend time with family and friends
Say what you’ve been too scared to say
Pet all the animals you can
Eat what you like
Donate your organs
Give to charity
Forgive and apologize
Do something thrilling
Do what you are afraid of
Go where you’ve always wanted to go.

Martin Luther was asked what he would do if the end were to come “today.” He replied that he would plant a tree and pay his taxes. He would do what he already does, live as he should; to do as he was appointed for the day.
Nowhere does the New Testament encourage the setting of dates or of any other kinds of charts. Eschatology is invariably used to encourage believers to live in a godly way (cf. Matt 24:36–25:46; Rom 13:11–14; 1 Cor 15:58; Phil 4:4–9; 1 Thess 5:1–11; 2 Pet 3:11–16). Nor does the New Testament ever invite believers to withdraw from the world because the end is near and to gaze at the skies, hoping that the Lord will return soon.[1]
[1]Thomas R. Schreiner, 1, 2 Peter, Jude, vol. 37, The New American Commentary (Nashville: Broadman & Holman Publishers, 2003), 210–211.
In 1 Pet., Peter wrote that since we are now in the end times, do what it appointed to you to do each day, knowing the end is here.

Be praying (depending) v. 7

Dependence is manifested in prayer.

Keep Loving v. 8

agapen ektene - love earnestly, eagerly
James 5:20 “let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.”
Love overlooks the sins of others as God overlooks our sin through Christ, so should we, through the love of Christ, do for others.

Be Hospitable v. 9

Remember the list of thing if today was your last? “Spend with family and friends.” Make each person your friend.

Employ Serving v. 10

serve each other
be a good steward of the ministry opportunities God has given you
Show God’s manifold grace
“Manifold/Varied” like a car manifold taking from many, to one, for the purpose of giving out.

Maintain perspective v. 11

Speak as if what you are saying is what God would be saying and how He would say it.
Serve as if what you are doing comes from God’s endless unstoppable strength
That is what Glorifies God and honors His gift of Christ, through the Holy Spirit, to you.
Big Idea: Live everyday as if it is your last; one day it will be; make it count for God’s glory and your good.
