This Week’s Theme: Walking in Peace
This Week’s Word is Peace: It is the state of harmony that is available to believers through having a right relationship with God and other saints and is especially associated with the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Memory Verse: John 16:33 “33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Essence of the Text in a Sentence: God promised David that his son and the nation will have peace and quietness.
Sermon Proposition: Peace is only found in God through Christ.
Sermon Objective: I want those in attendance to receive God’s peace through Christ, if they have not, and to live in the peace given by God through Christ.
Sermon Text: 1 Chronicles 22:9
1 Chronicles 22:9 NKJV
9 Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.
INTRODUCTION: Mahatma Gandhi said, “The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace.” Buddha said, “Inner peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.” Peace on earth. Peace not war. Peace
Remember peace is the state of harmony that is available to believers through having a right relationship with God and other saints and is especially associated with the presence of the Holy Spirit.
TRANSITION:
Peace is only found in God through Christ.

I. God is the Source of Peace

1 Chronicles 22:9 NKJV
Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.
EXPLANATION: Here in this passage, the LORD shows that He is the source of peace. He is the One who gives peace. Paul calls Him the God of peace.
Romans 15:33 NKJV
33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 14:33 NKJV
33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
Explain: LOOK AT THE TEXT
1 Chronicles 22:9 NKJV
9 Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.
God said that Solomon whose name means peaceable, would be a man of rest. How is this possible?
APPLICATION:
Do you have peace?
Are you looking for peace to come from another source?
In what ways do you look to God through Christ as your source of peace?
Are you a person of peace?
Evaluate your response. What needs to change? What can you do better?

II. God Supplies Our Peace

1 Chronicles 22:9 NKJV
9 Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.
EXPLANATION: I will give: I will give
Numbers 6:24–27 NKJV
24 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’ 27 “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”
Psalm 29:11 NKJV
11 The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.
2 Thessalonians 3:16 NKJV
16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.
ILLUSTRATION:
APPLICATION:
Are you relying on God to give you peace through Christ? How do you do it?
How can your relying on God for peace improve?
Write out the passages that you will use to remind you that God is your peace supplier?

III. God Secures Our Peace

1 Chronicles 22:9 NKJV
9 Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.
EXPLANATION: He says I will give rest from all his enemies.
Isaiah 26:3 NKJV
3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
John 16:33 NKJV
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
In Christ you may (possible to have) peace. In Christ you can have peace in trials. Look at the verse “in the world you will have tribulation” it is like the psalmist said in Psalm 119:50
Psalm 119:50 NKJV
50 This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life.
Christ, who is the Incarnate Word that became flesh (John 1:14) is the Word that gives life in affliction and difficulty
John 16:33 NKJV
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
You can be happy or of good cheer because He has overcome the world. This is why John said in 1 John 4:4
1 John 4:4 NKJV
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
Children of God are overcomers because they have someone greater in them than the evil one who is in this world
Christ secured peace for those who give their lives to Him. Look at Isaiah 9:6-7
Isaiah 9:6–7 NKJV
6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Look at Ephesians 2:11-20
Ephesians 2:11–20 NKJV
11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— 12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. 19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,
