1.Trust His words

I raise this question. Do you believe in God or do you believe God. In 2022 it seems like everyone believes “in” God, but no everyone believes God. God has spoken through His word and through His Son. And if you believe there is a God it makes perfect sense to believe this God when he speaks. The words that Jesus has been speaking to this multitude and to his disciples are the inspired words of God. In the differing words in Greek for “Word” the one used here is the word associated with the spoken, recorded, tried and tested, word of God. So, when Jesus says, “these words of mine”, He is equating his words with the inspired words of the Hebrew Bible (Preach).
Here is where we begin our juxtaposition between the two builders and two houses. It starts with the wise man and the fool. Jesus again gives us the reality that there are two types of people in the world. Those who follow Him and those who don’t. Here they are categorized as the wise building and the foolish builder. The wise person knows who Jesus is and that his word is reliable. He has never failed.
The fool on the other hand, “the fool says in his heart ‘there is no God’”.

2. Build on the Rock

The work of building is the building of a life. The building is the life that we build. And in the same way that their are only two types of people, there are only two types of foundations. The solid Rock and the shifting sand.
First of all, I’m not mad at people who can afford to have a house on the beach. I would love to have a house on the beach. But, truth be told when the hurricanes hit, the first houses to good are the ones on the beach. Just consider how easily sand castles are taken away by the small waves of the ocean. Just consider how easily it is to kick over a sand castle that a child makes i the sand box. There is absolutely no stability with sand. So, why in the world would someone dare to build on something with no stability. They are fools. And this is what a life looks like when we don’t build on the solid rock who is Jesus and his word.
People build a life build on their career…but the job market is unstable. People build lives on their marriage but people can let you down…Appearance…Talent…Skills...

3. Weather the Storm

One thing that both builders and both houses have in common. The one thing that we all have in common, is that eventually the rain is gonna fall, the floods are going to come, and the winds are going to blow. It is storm season right now. It does not matter who you are eventually you are going to find your life in the middle of difficulty and chaos. And you are not going to be able to do anything about it when it happens. The differences between the houses is that one is secured in Jesus and God’s word, while the other has nothing to keep it grounded.
The foundation does not make the house storm proof just fall proof. You will take damage, you will suffer, but with Jesus as your foundation you will be left standing when its all over. (Preach)
The fools house on the other hand fell and it fell was great. Because when its all said and done. And Jesus comes to judge the living and the dead if you built your life on anything else but Jesus there will be nothing to salvage.
“I go to the rock of my salvation...”
Trouble came…still standing. Poverty. Abuse happened. laid off. sickness in my body. Loved one passed. Confused. Stock market crashed. Racist shooting up.
