Are You Really Doing What Jesus did?

I had a friend recently tell me I was making an idle out of Jesus.
I thought that was the best complement I could get.
He then said you are not Jesus and you will not ever be Jesus. You are Jonathan.
I took this to Father and asked Him about it and He gave me a mind blowing revelation:
When we look to the bible to find out more about Father, Jesus or Holy Spirit, we tend to look for patterns principles.
We try to find a way to do what Jesus did the way Jesus did things.
Even though I have been trained my entire life to hear Jesus myself, I still miss things all the time.
Deeper Look into being Like Jesus:
We look to the story of the woman caught in adultery and the religious people want Jesus to punish her to death. Found in (John 8:1-11).
I see that story and say ok, I can do that.
I can love people that others want to kill or destroy because they did something wrong. Just because they did something wrong does not mean they deserve punishment.
I have commited myself to this principle so much that I have lost many friends over this very thing.
Jesus trust Judas with the money.
I have committed my life to this principle, and that is to treat people the way Jesus did not based on peoples past.
Jesus picked Peter to follow Him.
Jesus sees in Peter what others have missed. This includes the parts of Peter that are in the image of Father and the parts of Peter’s life that are in the way from being his true self.
I have often picked people that others overlook because of this.
I have commited myself to this principle. I have believe in people often before he or she believes in himself or herself.
These principles are important to me and I have worked hard to live by these.
You see I have made and idle out of being like Jesus.
Only problem is I have not been living like Jesus lived.
I missed something and only accidentally truly followed Him from time to time.
John 12:49–50 NASB95
49 “For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. 50 “I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”
John 5:19 NASB95
19 Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
You see not only did Jesus know His Father’s ways and character, He stayed in contact with Him.
Jesus knew that His Father loves people not based on their past or deserving it.
Jesus also only did what His Father was doing with each person in His life.
Following Jesus means following who He followed.
Examples:
Jesus healed at least 11 leapers, but He did not go into the leapers village and heal all leapers.
Why?
Jesus only did what He saw His Father doing.
Jesus picked 12 people to follow Him.
At one point He had over 70 disciples and then said some things that kept it to the 12 that His Father sent Him.
Again Jesus only led those His Father sent Him and got rid of those who just wanted Him but were not sent by Father.
Jesus knows His Father’s heart and character better than anyone. That is still not the most important thing He knew. Even though He knew His Father well, He still followed His Voice and lead in all things.
When Father tells you or shows you what He is doing, it eliminates a lot of distractions and draining activities.
Challenge with this.
The big glaring challenge with this is the ability to hear Father’s voice clearly.
Let’s look at some confirmations of Father’s voice in your life.
Four tips confirming your hearing Father Voice:
Will sound like His Character, Nature, and Way.
A peace that can not be faked or taken away.
Confirmation through witnesses and authority.
Produces fruit of the Spirit
1. Will sound like His Character, Nature, and Way.
Casts a shadow that looks like your following the law.
Laying your life down for others.
Building people up.
If it sounds hard it will be for their future and hope
He wont tell you to say or do that is not your place or authority.
Reading the bible becomes a way of understanding Father’s heart instead of an owners manual.
2. A peace that can not be faked or taken away.
You may still be nervous or feel the pressure of what He is telling you but you still have a peace.
You may still see how that is running directly into a fire but you still have peace.
You may still get rejected but now you have peace about what to do.
You wont have peace about doing other things instead.
3. Confirmation through witnesses and authority.
People who know the voice of God and care for you not just want to please you will witness this.
People who Father has sent in your life to guide you will confirm what Father is saying.
People who Father has been using to change your life for the better already will agree with what Father is saying.
Antiwitnesses will pop their heads up. People with agendas or strong emotions will try to talk you out of it.
4. Produces fruit of the Spirit
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, longsuffering, gentleness, self-control…
Hope will grow from within you not in expectations outside of you.
Your face will light up and show fruit.
Your energy will grow
You will be able to rest easier.

Closing:

Asking Father what He is doing and following that, will change your life drastically.
Activation:
Grab a paper and pen or your phone to take some notes.
I want you to think of a person you have anxiety about in your life.
Do you have that person in mind now?
Repeat after me: ‘Father, what are You doing with this person?’
Write down what you just heard or saw.
I want you to think of a situation that has you worried or anxious about.
moving, job change, relationship change,
Repeat after me: ‘Father, what are You doing with this situation?’
Write down what you saw or heard.
Other Resources:
Hebrews 1:1–3 NASB95
1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. 3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
John 8:1–11 NASB95
1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, 4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 “Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?” 6 They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. 7 But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. 10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.”
Law:
Hebrews 10:1 NASB95
1 For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near.
Hebrews 8:5 NASB95
5 who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, “See,” He says, “that you make all things according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.”
