The psalmist thinks so, for he continues blithely to assure us that never in all his long life has he seen the righteous in financial need (vv. 25–26)! Brueggemann, discussing this psalm at length, suggests that such a statement would make sense in a ‘very protected environment’, a ‘settled, stable, reliable, controllable’ society;
