Genesis 16:7-10
IN our text this morning we will see a story of the Love God have for our Mother’s, in so much as He looks upon their afflictions and hardships, yet with compassion He nurtures them so that they become all that God has called them to be.
I suppose one of the hardest jobs in the world is being a Mother, mentally, physically and emotionally it is exhausting.
To love so much and have so much fear as to how they will turn out or whether they will get seriously hurt.
I am not going to meddle in your affairs too much this morning, you know what kind of Mother you are, you know how you treat your children and you will be rewarded accordingly.
I am, however going to talk to you this morning about how you serve God.
Background on Hagar and how it came to this
When all of this took place, Hagar thought her position would change, she would be seen as something other than a slave.
She thought she would move up in status and receive better treatment, however it got worse and she ran.
no doubt she thought it has got to be better somewhere else; God ain’t wanting you to run and submit yourself to someone or something els, He want you to comeback to Him.
The text finds Hagar on the run, she is running from her responsibilities to her Mistress or in this case her Master.
8 And He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?”
God ask Hagar a question what is your plan now?
Where do you think this path you are on is going to take you? and Without provision how do you think you are going to bring this to pass?
Too often like Hagar when things get tough instead of seeing them through, we run away and when we run away from obligations, duties and situations usually they either catch up with us or they follow us .
9 The Angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.”
10 Then the Angel of the Lord said to her, “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.”
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Ge 16:9–10.
Getting back under the Hand of your Master will bring great Blessings
There was shelter “The Name of the LORD is a Strong tower...
There is Grace “My Grace is sufficient for thee and is your weakness is My strength made perfect.”
In the story of the Prodigal son we see a picture of breakdown as we leave the presence of the Spiritual Leader in our lives.
When this man comes to his senses, he realizes “How many of my father’s servants have bread enough....
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
