this week we see the events that ignite the work that follows this gospel

Apostles

those who met them on the road are there sharing what they have seen

Jesus appears in the room- whatever miracle you choose to envision

how do you still not understand who I am and who I was meant to be?

despite this, he does everything he can to alleviate their doubts and help them understand

Likely studying with them as he did with those on the road to Emmaus

this is what I have been telling you

this is what you will go and tell the world once you are ready

Ascension

leading them to Bethany, similar to Elijah’s ascension

imagine watching someone ascend into the sky

leaving more questions than answers

their master leaves them and yet they are full of joy that they cannot keep to their selves

Application

takeaways from Luke’s gospel account

the story is true and undeniable or it wouldn’t have been given in the way that it was

Luke spares no detail, even the most unattractive parts- sending people away, leaning on the accounts of women, approaching the detestable often

Jesus is who he says that he is, not just for the Hebrews, but for all of us

the story should fill all of us with great joy
