Navigating Sorrow
Navigating Sorrow
During the days weeks and even months ahead, their will be hard days. Thee will be days that you will feel just like David Psalm 6. ENCAPSULATED/ SURROUNDED/ENGULFED by sorrow & heartache. In that Psalm David cries out to God I am near the point of fainting, I can hardly bear it, I’m in anguish, torment. in v. 2 he uses the word for pining - I hurt from the inside out. He has the feeling of death/he can’t get up/can’t get going/he can’t go to sleep
You will has How Long just like David did in Ps. 13
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart all the day? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; Enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death,
And my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” And my adversaries will rejoice when I am shaken.
But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
You are not alone and God is most certainly with you. 2 Cor. 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
Heb. 13:5 “... for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,””
You also have your brothers and sister in Christ.
I believe the reason we so often feel alone and engulfed with our sorrow is because we try and carry it alone. We often feel like God is no where to be found because we are not communing with Him. Notice in our Psalm 13:5-6 “But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.”
I trusted in your loving kindness - I believe, I rely on it, I have been a recipient of it before.
I rejoice in your salvation - He realizes that God’s salvation from this present trial is assured, he knows it will come
I will sing to the Lord - Why because he has dealt bountifully with me and he will again.
Where do the Psalmist go in their moments of heartache? They go to the Lord. They commune with Him in scripture reading, song, and prayer.
They trust and rely on his promises and they determine to do this. It is a willful act of commitment and devotion and God lifts them up out of their heartache and misery and he will lift you too.
May God Bless You and Keep You and Give You Peace in the Days and weeks ahead!
