john 16:7 “Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.”
We never spiritually outgrow our dependency upon the Holy Spirit. The exact opposite is true. The more mature we are in our faith and the more intimate our relationship with our heavenly Father, the more dependent we must be on the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not IT HE is a person ..... He is known has as the Person of the Holy Spirit
WE CANNOT MANIPULATE
THE HOLY SPIRIT
Holy Spirit is anchor for our life..........We are never alone. The Holy Spirit is our constant companion, helping us to make the right decisions and keeping us safe from harm’s way
Amen!
Living in the Power of the Holy Spirit. Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.
Who is the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer today?
1.The Holy Spirit is Our Friend •
1.The Holy Spirit is Our Friend •
You cannot reach the depths of God without an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.
• Ask the Holy Spirit for a revelation of His personhood.
• Genesis 1:1-2 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”
• Revelation 22:17 “The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.”
• The Holy Spirit is present throughout the both the Old and New Testament.
God's love is deeper than the oceans and wider than space. The Holy Spirit creates a personal connection to God that only those who believe in Him can experience, because He lives inside them!
2. Personal Acts of the Holy Spirit
2. Personal Acts of the Holy Spirit
• The Spirit performs personal acts: He works, searches, speaks, testifies, teaches, reproves, prays and intercedes, leads, regenerates, convicts, comforts, calls men into ministry, imparts spiritual gifts, and glorifies Jesus, the Son of God.
• It’s really hard to connect to a symbol; connect to the personhood of the Holy Spirit.
The Comforter
• Whatever you’re hungry for, He put it in you so He can satisfy it.
• If you go to the deep places of pain without the Holy Spirit’s comfort, you will become very fragile.
• You can go through any pain in life with the Holy Spirit.
• If you don’t allow the Holy Spirit to comfort you, all your roots of brokenness will grow.
You'll never miss the comfort of the Holy Spirit if you realize that he's with you and within you to bring comfort at all times
3. Holy Spirit the Advocate
3. Holy Spirit the Advocate
John 14:1-6, 16-17
• Parakletos means “the One Who comes alongside, advocate.”
• It is better that Jesus left so the Holy Spirit could be inside of you and be with you wherever you go.
• You can have intimacy with the Lord that is deeper than the disciples had with Jesus.
• The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are always at work together, preferring one another and submitting to one another. The Holy Spirit as an Intercessor
• He intercedes for you even when you are not walking with Christ.
• Romans 8:26-27 The Holy Spirit as a Stand-by
• He stands by your side and you can feel His presence. The Holy Spirit as an Advocate
• The Holy Spirit is your legal defender. • John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,”
• The Holy Spirit pleads on your behalf, He publicly supports you and shows no shame in supporting you. The Holy Spirit as a Helper • He is your ever-present help in a time of need. The Holy Spirit as a Comforter
• He protects and comforts us every time.
