Introduction
Hear, Remember, and Know
Micah 6:1–5 NASB95
1 Hear now what the Lord is saying, “Arise, plead your case before the mountains, And let the hills hear your voice. 2 “Listen, you mountains, to the indictment of the Lord, And you enduring foundations of the earth, Because the Lord has a case against His people; Even with Israel He will dispute. 3 “My people, what have I done to you, And how have I wearied you? Answer Me. 4 “Indeed, I brought you up from the land of Egypt And ransomed you from the house of slavery, And I sent before you Moses, Aaron and Miriam. 5 “My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab counseled And what Balaam son of Beor answered him, And from Shittim to Gilgal, So that you might know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

1. Hear

This word is Shema (v. 1 and 2)
This is a theological word in the Heb
This is the LORD speaking
This is a legal case he is bringing before them
They are to hear his indictment
He is calling ancient witnesses of the mountains
He is telling is people to HEAR
Jeremiah 6:10 NASB95
10 To whom shall I speak and give warning That they may hear? Behold, their ears are closed And they cannot listen. Behold, the word of the Lord has become a reproach to them; They have no delight in it.
There is more to hearing than just the action of hearing,
You have to hear and let the words affect you
James 1:22 NASB95
22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
The people of Micah's day have heard but they have not truly listened
They have preachers, but they are not listening
Because of this their society is in shambles
Much like our society is
You have to come to church to hear the Word.
This is the chief responsibility of the Pastor
2 Timothy 4:1–2 NASB95
1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
This is Pauls Chief command to Timothy. Not anything else.
This is the place where you hear the word in your ears so that the Spirit may bring it to fruit in your heart and change your actions

2. Remember

Micah 6:3 NASB95
3 “My people, what have I done to you, And how have I wearied you? Answer Me.
What are they to remember?
Zachar - same as exodus 2
First, that God delivered them from Egypt
Second, that he gave them leaders
Third, that he turned their curse into blessing
Deuteronomy 23:3–5 NASB95
3 “No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of the Lord; none of their descendants, even to the tenth generation, shall ever enter the assembly of the Lord, 4 because they did not meet you with food and water on the way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you. 5 “Nevertheless, the Lord your God was not willing to listen to Balaam, but the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you because the Lord your God loves you.
Fourth, that he brought them into the promised land.
Joshua 3:14–17 NASB95
14 So when the people set out from their tents to cross the Jordan with the priests carrying the ark of the covenant before the people, 15 and when those who carried the ark came into the Jordan, and the feet of the priests carrying the ark were dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the days of harvest), 16 the waters which were flowing down from above stood and rose up in one heap, a great distance away at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those which were flowing down toward the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. So the people crossed opposite Jericho. 17 And the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground, until all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan.
Christ has done these deeds for us also
He has saved us - like the exodus
He is our priest and our prophet greater than Aaron and Moses, he has also appointed leaders over us in him to lead us in truth and righteousness
He has turned our curse into a blessing
He has given us a promised land to which we will go with him leading the way like the priests of old!
DO YOU REMEMBER THE WORD OF GOD? WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR YOU???
You need to remember, you need to shout about it, you need to tell everyone you know, you need to pass it on to your kids!
Deuteronomy 6:5 NASB95
5 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Deuteronomy 6:6–9 NASB95
6 “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7 “You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. 8 “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. 9 “You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:10–12 NASB95
10 “Then it shall come about when the Lord your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build, 11 and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied, 12 then watch yourself, that you do not forget the Lord who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
THEY FORGOT THE WORD because of the blessing that God brought them
Joshua 24:24 NASB95
24 The people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God and we will obey His voice.”
Judges 2:10 NASB95
10 All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel.

3. Know

This all displays the Righteousness of God, that he has kept his part of the Covenant by doing these great things before them.
They had these righteous deeds of the LORD recorded for them in the word
YET they forgot them and they did not truly know them.
Don’t they have to know the word to remember the word?
There are two types of knowing.
This is Yada
there is cognitive knowing and knowlege,
then there is a true intimate knowing
They are to HEAR the word so that they REMEMBER the word, so that they can KNOW the word truly.
You will never know God unless you first hear the word.
Romans 10:17 NASB95
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
HOW?
Hear it by preaching in your church, hear it on the radio, hear it on Face Book.
REMEMBER it by READING the WORD and being familiar with the WORD.
KNOW it BY LIVING IT, experiencing the WORD.
