To begin our series in Leviticus, we go straight to the middle of the book and its core theme, which is atonement. This is the heart of the book, the heart of the law, the heart of Scripture, and the heart of the gospel. It’s the essential means by which God reconciles us to himself and makes us pure and holy. The historical celebration of the Day of Atonement gives us a glimpse into these themes and highlights what is most important. Through its message, we can understand what it means to meet with God and dwell in his presence – all thanks to Jesus Christ!
