Rich Man and Lazarus

(Luke 16:19-31) Rich man died & went to hell while Lazarus too died and went to Abraham’s Bosom. While there apparently the Rich man was able to look up and view Lazarus and he asked Abraham if he could have a drip of water from off of Lazarus’ finger, at which point Abraham reminded him of all the opportunities he had during his lifetime to help poor Lazarus even with mere leftovers, and he refused.
What’s worse, the fact people in hell can view people in heaven and can even communicate or the agony and torture of having to live out memories for eternity?
What is the chasm which separated them?
Isn’t it ironic he asked for Lazarus to dip his finger in water & allow him to lick it knowing the dogs licked Lazarus’ wounds because he refused to provide care and help even though he had great wealth?
Lastly he asked Abraham to allow him to return to the surface to warn his family, at which Abraham told him Zombies can’t talk.
This man (who isn’t even given a name in this parable while Lazarus is) had every opportunity in life to make a difference not only in Lazarus’ life but others in healthcare, housing, and food, yet didn’t. He was given a HUGE platform to make a difference yet wasted it.
How are you using your platform? We all are given a platform, some larger than others. The point is not the size of your platform but how your’e utilizing it to make a difference in the lives of others.
Paul Goldschmidt has walk up music of David Crowder.
Extras (Abe Lincoln verse Zombies, Brad Pitt starred in World War Z, popularity of the Walking Dead) (Jesus death caused many zombies to walk around, even Lazarus was a zombie) (zombie walk, zombie picture, the classic Michael Jackson song Thriller)
Those with influence should use their platform to better society. Supreme Court justices and politicians handling of abortion. I would caution folks to be careful what language they use and how they use their influence on this topic because every idle word and deed will be judged.
only what we do for Christ matters.
