The Content
Hebrews 9:4 states that the ark contained three objects:
“the golden pot that had manna,
and Aaron’s rod that budded,
and the tables of the covenant.”
The manna foreshadowed Christ and His ministry in many ways.
Paul called it “spiritual food”(1 Cor.
10:3) because of its supernatural origin, being “bread from heaven”(Ex.
16:4).
The Lord referred to Himself as “the true bread from heaven”(Jn.
6:32).
The manna was provided for the Israelites in the wilderness, a place that was not their home (Ex.
16:1
