Matthew 7:13–14 KJV (WS)
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Why Does God Send People To Hell
Introduction: Because He is Just.
Just - based on or behaving according to what is morally right and fair:
2 Peter 3:9 KJV (WS)
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Psalm 21:2 KJV (WS)
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
Psalm 145:17–20 KJV (WS)
The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
Jeremiah 17:9–10 KJV (WS)
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
These truths are exactly in line with the way the vast majority of Christians pray, whether they accept the fact that God must violate a person's "free" will so that they can be saved or not.
God will not violate our choice.
If you believe this to be incorrect, think about it this way:
When you pray for a loved one, do you say, "God, please save Bob, but don't go so far as to violate his free will.
Do your best to persuade him but don't go any further"?
Or do you instead pray, "Please, God, break through Bob's rebellion and overcome his stubborn resistance to you so that he'll be saved"?
(Our Children)
God has made it very hard to just go to this place called hell folks...
I. THEY THINK THEY’LL HAVE TO GIVE UP TO MUCH
The devil has convinced people that if they become a Christian they will have to give up everything that’s worthwhile and will never have any enjoyment in life. This is a lie. Instead of giving up everything, the Christian gets everything.
II. THEY ARE AFRAID OF PEOPLE
People who are unsaved are afraid of what people will say or do to them if they come to Christ.
“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe” (Prov. 29:25).
III. THEY ARE BUSY WITH OTHER THINGS
In the parable of the great supper in Luke 14:16–24,
Three people made excused for not attending the supper—all were too busy. “. . .
I Bought a piece of land.
I Bought five yoke of oxen.
I Married a wife.
Luke 14:24 KJV (WS)
For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
It’s best to put God first, not things.
IV. THEY SAY THERE ARE TOO MANY HYPOCRITES
This is an excuse I have heard many times.
I remind those who say this that..
Romans 14:12 KJV (WS)
So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
A person will not give an account for the hypocrite, but of himself.
V. THEY ARE WAITING FOR A FEELING
I suppose that I hear this more than any other excuse.
Nowhere in the Bible does God say how you are to feel before you are saved, when you are saved, or after you are saved.
The word feel is used only once is the New Testament.
Acts 17:27 KJV (WS)
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
VI. THEY ARE AFRAID THEY CAN’T HOLD OUT
People want to be saved, but are afraid they will sin and will not be able to live the Christian life.
We can’t hold out, but if we trust Jesus Christ He will hold us.
When God saves a person, He gives him eternal life and promises he will never perish.
John 10:27–29 KJV (WS)
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
VII. THEY THINK THEY HAVE PLENTY OF TIME
People put off salvation, thinking that sometime in the future they will be saved. “Boast not thyself of tomorrow: for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Proverbs 27:1 KJV (WS)
Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
