Romans 5:1–11 (KJV 1900)
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
PRAYER
We live in a day and age where it can where it is sometimes hard to know what true or false, right or wrong, and fact or fictional. Whether it is the news, an article, or even a how to video on the internet sometimes the truth is unclear. Thankfully, we have God’s Word which will remain true and never return void. Todays message is titled “What We Have in Christ,” and I want to remind you that what we have in Christ will remain true and never return void.
Transition: In Romans 5:1 and 2 we see the first of four points I want to hit today that we have a definite settlement. We have a definite settlement.

We Have a Definite Settlement

Verses 1-2
We have peace with God through Christ. (v. 1-2a)
First of all understand that the word peace is not a feeling but a standing. Because of Christ, God and the believer are no longer separated but reconciled. The believer can now have a relationship with God.
I also want you to look at the beginning of verse one and think about the idea that we have been justified by faith. We are not doing the justification. It is God’s doing and praise the Lord that it is because God never changes, and he always keeps His promises. If there is anything that you can go home tonight praising the Lord about, it is that Christ has allowed for us to have peace with God.
We access to this peace with God by our faith in Christ. I love how Paul calls this peace, grace. Because that is what it is. It is a gift to us that we can have a relationship with God. Our sin puts us at odds with God, but Christ has made a way. It may be that not everyone here today has a relationship with God. I tell you now that if you are not saved, you cannot have a relationship with God. I encourage anyone today who does not know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior to receive Him today. Others of you might not have a close relationship with God because you are holding onto sin in your life. I ask you now to get right with God. Just as the parable of the Prodigal Son, come back to the Father, and He will receive you.
Look with me back at verse 2. “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
We rejoice in the hope of God’s glory. (v. 2)
Rejoice (Greek: boast) - How often do we boast about God’s glory?
Hope, according the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, meansto cherish a desire with anticipation or to want something to happen or be true.”
So the question is: Do you hope or a cherished desire for the glory of God? Do you want God’s glory to be true in your life today? If so what are you doing in your life to proclaim and anticipate God’s glory?
