HOPEFUL

New Semester
The start of a new semester at school brings with it a sense of hopefulness, freshness, newfound energy and optimism.
Philippians 1:6 NLT
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

HOPEFUL because of...

Who God is
What he has done
What he will do

HEALTHY

Food as Fuel
Most of us eat for the pleasure of it. We eat what makes us happy. We tend toward sugars and carbs and all the things that give our brains a hit of dopamine.
But athletes eat to fuel their body and mind. They prioritize nutrients over taste.
In the same way, Christians must learn to feast on the things that fuel a healthy life of faith. What we see. What we hear. Who we are influenced by. Etc.
1 Timothy 4:6–8 NLT
If you explain these things to the brothers and sisters, Timothy, you will be a worthy servant of Christ Jesus, one who is nourished by the message of faith and the good teaching you have followed. Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”

HEALTHY vessels of blessing...

Physically
Spiritually
Relationally

HUNGRY

Desert Thirst
What does every person stumbling around lost in a desert beg for? Water. It’s this perfect synergy of what they need most becoming what they want most. Nothing else matters. Nothing else will satisfy. Everything in them is aimed at finding and consuming this one thing.
This is the way King David describes his desire for God. Like a deer, desperate for a drink of water, David aches to be in the presence of the Lord. It is an all-consuming desire.
Philippians 3:7–14 (NLT)
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.
For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!
I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

HUNGRY to...

Know Jesus
Experience resurrection life
