Glory
Have you even seen those really peppy Christians and your just not having it that day.
I mean honestly this can go for anything really.
Have you even seen the really peppy kid at school and he just has a extra pep in his step and you just climb out of bed that morning only to find out it was tuesday and not friday and you jsut really, really, like really do not want to be at school and so you just are walking through the day only to get to it so you can just finish school and hop right back into bed that was ripped from your hands at that early hour of the morning.
But that peppy kid with a pep in his step is just walking about and making everything rainbows and butterflies and gum drops.
his pep is just too much in your step
Sometimes life can feel like that right?
thats a totally normal feeling but when it also comes to church and being a Christian we can also get that feeling.
“I do not want to be here today”
“I am not vibing with this today”
“anywhere but here”
I totally understand that feeling, happens to me too some days.
either its just that idea of being somewhere else or maybe even you are going through some doubts, here is what I want you to do.
Praise God through it all.
There is something so valuable when we worship, praise and follow Jesus even through the hard parts.
John 17 talks about Jesus on the cross and I know it’s easy to say, pfft we didnt have to die on the cross but Jesus did so don’t complain, right?
But listen to how John lays this out:
I think there is something to be said about the Glory that Jesus gave God in his final hours and through his suffering on the cross.
He says I have brought you Glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.
that line is where all of it comes to a blazing conclusion.
Through his suffering he finished his fathers work, and for us that looks a little different but we want to first look at the idea
I can glorfiy God through what I do.
even if it’s hard
Jesus being fully man and fully God could have gotten off the cross at any point and remove himself from the scene.
He had the power to do that but instead he took his work to the grave as he dies for the sins of the many.
Jesus took the hardship becuase he knew that his work would glorify God.
The other point is this,
2. a momment of hardship is worth it for glorifying God.
If we beleive that we died and will be ressurected in the end we must realize that this life is short compared to a eternity with Christ.
So any hardships that we encounter here on earth, we got to realize that if we give God glory through that we will be with him at the end.
So in hardships, suffering, momments where you just don’t want to be present or even trust in God, I want to encourage you to give him the glory becuase he is the one who took your sin and died with it.
That act alone is worth all the glory we could give.
It’s something that takes time to develop, but I encourage you next time that you can’t feel the Holy Spirit or you just don’t want to be at youth or church, I would go dive into it anyways becuase it’s not about how we feel.
Ultimently its about how God is glorifed through our lives, through the rough patches, in the hard stuff.
even when everything is awesome a pefect, God always deserves the glory we give him.
Do you ever wake up and know “today is not my day”?
(Explain the event)
How do you get through a rough day, what restores it to a good day?
Have you ever found God when you felt doubts?
How can we give Glory to God when we feel defeated (1. in our day?)
(2. in our faith?)
