Ruth 3:1–5 (ESV)
1 Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, should I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you? 2 Is not Boaz our relative, with whose young women you were? See, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor. 3 Wash therefore and anoint yourself, and put on your cloak and go down to the threshing floor, but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking. 4 But when he lies down, observe the place where he lies. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down, and he will tell you what to do.” 5 And she replied, “All that you say I will do.”
Naomi want waning to take this situation to the next level
Ruth has plenty of food had a great position but it did not fulfill the full need.
To many Christians settle for what is OK instead of pursuing fulfillment.
How many times have we said or through
will it works
its OK right now
its easier this way
We can keep going . but we have all been there.
Naomi did want to stop and Ruth being fed for now, but to find rest.
We are not finding rest in our lives because we haven't pursued it from God.
To find the rest we can not settle for less !!!!!
So Ruth did what Naomi said after Boaz ate and drank and layed down, She uncovered his feel and laid at his feet.
Some have tried to make this all about sex that Ruth seduced Boaz.
Yet it was not until later he noticed her there.
English Standard Version (Chapter 3)
8 At midnight the man was startled and turned over, and behold, a woman lay at his feet! 9 He said, “Who are you?” And she answered, “I am Ruth, your servant. Spread your wings over your servant, for you are a redeemer.”
This was not seduction this was a request of redemption
Some get in relationship and think the physical relation will fix a spiritual problem.
I cant tell you the time i have heard,
He or she verbally abuse me but if we have a child it will fix all of it
yeah she cheated but if we have a kid it will change them.
oh yes we are not close to each other but if we get physical if i give them this piece of me it will make the relationship better
Relationship fail because they never address the spiritual problems in them.
the Man is not taking lead of the family and walking to God
They are not reading scripture together
they stopped praying together if they ever
they argue and fight but not fix it and let it sit
These are all things that scripture tells us not to do.
English Standard Version (Chapter 3)
10 And he said, “May you be blessed by the LORD, my daughter. You have made this last kindness greater than the first in that you have not gone after young men, whether poor or rich. 11 And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you all that you ask, for all my fellow townsmen know that you are a worthy woman. 12 And now it is true that I am a redeemer. Yet there is a redeemer nearer than I. 13 Remain tonight, and in the morning, if he will redeem you, good; let him do it. But if he is not willing to redeem you, then, as the LORD lives, I will redeem you. Lie down until the morning.”
Boaz recognized what Ruth was wanting. and was honored
But he knew that there was someone else who had clam
He could have said forget it and redeemed her any way but they would open a door up for fights, arguments because he didn't do what was right
We need people in our lives who Doesn’t do something just because it is easy but they do it because it is right.
Find someone who is willing to always do what is right even if it means losing what they want
doing what is right will always
So she woke up while it was still dark to leave and Boaz give her plenty of barley and she went home to Naomi
Boaz went to this other person and didn't try to trick him, he told them of the situation and let him decide what needed to be done. The other guy can does not want to take the redemption and allows it be give to Boaz. They pass sandals as a sign of the agreement.
English Standard Version (Chapter 4)
13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. And he went in to her, and the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son. 14 Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel! 15 He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.” 16 Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her lap and became his nurse. 17 And the women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi.” They named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
English Standard Version (Chapter 4)
18 Now these are the generations of Perez: Perez fathered Hezron, 19 Hezron fathered Ram, Ram fathered Amminadab, 20 Amminadab fathered Nahshon, Nahshon fathered Salmon, 21 Salmon fathered Boaz, Boaz fathered Obed, 22 Obed fathered Jesse, and Jesse fathered David.
God took the mistake by Elimelech to bring a redeemer not just for Ruth, but For all of us through Jesus Christ.
What We Learn from Boaz
God has offered us rest
God has offered us redemption
God has offer us Restoration
Will You Take It Today??
