The War Against Independence

Text: Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. [1]

I.        Introduction:

Thematic Sentence: When we try to operate independently we run the risk of anxiety, but we can overcome anxiety through total dependence upon God.

II.      Resist The Attack of Anxiety: The Symptom of Independence

A.      In the State of  Our Being: Anxiety is On the List of  Our Sworn Enemies

B.      In the State of Our Affairs: Anxiety is Off Limits to Every Situation

III.   Rely on The Defense of  Dependence: The Solution of Reliance

A.      Realize the Focus of  Dependence

B.      Recognize the Degree of Dependence

C.      Relay the Expression of  Dependence

D.      Reflect the Gratitude of  Dependence

IV.    Reap The Posture of Peace: The Serenity of  Faith

A.      Peace Afforded by God

B.      Peace Above our Comprehension

C.      Peace Able to Protect

D.      Peace Available in Christ
