The demons
Genesis 1:1–5 (NASB95) — 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
It is light that dispels the darkness. Darkness is merely an absence of light. Darkness is also an image of evil.
Jesus is the Son of God. who is man but also he is God. and though Jesus was born a little lower than the angels, He is still God and bears authority over both the physical and spiritual world.
Jesus is light, his very being within this world will cause the demons to heed the authority of his word.
Jesus has come back as the Son of man to reclaim that which was his from the beginning.
This is another fine day in the Lord!
As we begin a new week the Lord.
Jesus then moved his Headquarters from Nazareth to Capernaum.
Luke 4:31–32 (NASB95) — 31 And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and He was teaching them on the Sabbath; 32 and they were amazed at His teaching, for His message was with authority.
God had one son and God made him a preacher.
What makes a good preacher? For we have to conclude that Jesus was the greatest preacher that ever preached. What was a great sermon?
Of Course, it is not the style nor the dynamics of the preacher but the spirit within. But I have to wonder about the given dynamics of the Preacher that would make the people sit up in their seats as the voice of the Son of God would draw them to the Sacred word of the Lord.
Jesus would be the example of what Paul tells Timothy to do.
2 Timothy 4:2–4 (NASB95) — 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
The message as so often heard and is written down for us, was the message of the Kingdom.
The Kingdom is at hand. It was at hand. The preacher must convey that message. The message would have had content, I’m sure. Relevance. The preaching convicting the heart provoking repentance. It was a preaching that those who attended that day felt that they were schooled by God himself.
And they were.
This should be the desire of every preacher. It is my desire that my congregation whether big or small can see beyond the pulpit and sense that words that being taught were from God himself.
No one knew better than the Preacher Jesus. There was no,
“I Think”
“I feel”
“let me tell you a Joke”
Let me tell you about my family
0r talk an hour and half on tithing.
No, every word out of this preacher’s mouth was “thus says the Lord,” for the Teacher was the Lord who spoke.
Maybe people today are not drawn to the word of God in the day that we are living because there are few who are filling the pulpit who has the fire of the spirit of God within them.
Could they, have it?
How much are preachers filled with the very words that they are conveying? How can any preacher be filled with the spirit of God and talk about anything but the infallible word of God?
It certainly came to Peter on the day of Pentecost when he began to preach, and many were coming to salvation.
I often asked what the difference is between, preaching and teaching. I guess it is this.
Any one can be a teacher. A teacher passes on information. So does a preacher but within the message and the messenger there is the authoritative credentials of the spirit within to bring to the hearts of the listeners the word from God.
This was Jesus.
Luke 4:33–34 (NASB95) — 33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34 “Let us alone! What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
Demons are not fallen angels. Demons fall in a different category of creatures call disembodied spirits.
What roams the earth even in this day are the disembodied spirits which are the spirits of the Nephilim of the past.
The Nephilim were the products of an unlawful union between the Sons of God (spiritual beings) and the daughters of men. (Genesis 6:1-4) these godless creatures roamed the earth prior to and after the flood. There was no home for such spirits before or after death. Even the disobedient angelic creatures continue to be until the final judgment. But these spirits when the body of the Nephilim died had no place to go.
This comes form an extra biblical book called the Book of Enoch.
CHAPTER XV.
1. And He answered and said to me, and I heard His voice: 'Fear not, Enoch, thou righteous man and scribe of righteousness: approach hither and hear my voice. 2. And go, say to ⌈⌈the Watchers of heaven⌉⌉, who have sent thee to intercede ⌈⌈for them: "You should intercede"⌉⌉ for men, and not men for you: 3. Wherefore have ye left the high, holy, and eternal heaven, and lain with women, and defiled yourselves with the daughters of men and taken to yourselves wives, and done like the children of earth, and begotten giants (as your) sons? 4. And
p. 43
though ye were holy, spiritual, living the eternal life, you have defiled yourselves with the blood of women, and have begotten (children) with the blood of flesh, and, as the children of men, have lusted after flesh and blood as those ⌈also⌉ do who die and perish. 5. Therefore have I given them wives also that they might impregnate them, and beget children by them, that thus nothing might be wanting to them on earth. 6. But you were ⌈formerly⌉ spiritual, living the eternal life, and immortal for all generations of the world. 7. And therefore I have not appointed wives for you; for as for the spiritual ones of the heaven, in heaven is their dwelling. 8. And now, the giants, who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. 9. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; because they are born from men, ⌈⌈and⌉⌉ from the holy Watchers is their beginning and primal origin; ⌈they shall be evil spirits on earth, and⌉ evil spirits shall they be called. [10. As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling, but as for the spirits of the earth which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.] 11. And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, ⌈but nevertheless hunger⌉ and thirst, and cause offences. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded ⌈from them⌉.
Book of Enoch
Case in point.
When Jesus visited the Gerasenes which is opposite Galilee (Luke 8) He is about to run the unclean spirits out of the man. But these spirits partitioned Jesus that he would send them into the body of the swine. And He did.
The spirits are indestructible and apparently without a body they have no objective purpose. Such demons find there way into and set up residence in human bodies. Young and old.
there are places in the world where there is a abundance of demon possession still going on. The same demons still continue to look for a home. Protection of such lies with the establishment of the authority structure that sets up a barrier wall between man and these spiritual creatures.
These demons seem to have their own personalities. Some remain dormant, or quiet while others tend to be quite violent. Causing much harm to their human host.
They might themselves as with the demons that was found in this Synagogue choose to be silent.
I have asked what happen to all the demon possessions that seem to be running rampant during the days that we are studying about. I realize that they have not gone away. Some remain silent probably because of the power of prayer of those who are in Christ and in the spirit to dispense of them.
I think and perhaps they know that if the Christian was more aware of their presence that prayers would be more so directed to the highest authority to remove these beings.
I’m no an expert on demons but I do believer that they are more than just fallen Angels. And whatever the case Jesus is starting to tread on The devils territory. And where Jesus goes where the light goes the demons have to fall back. But they will do so reluctantly and not without a fight.
